Headlights ALWAYS stays ON *Help!
Hopefully someone here can steer me the right way!
My headlights always comes on and stays on when I start my car. It doesn't matter what I have the headlight knob set too. Before the daytime running lights would come on (inner headlights) then the main lights would turn on at dusk/night. *NORMAL! Now it does the opposite!! Main headlights come on including the headlight icon on dash then the inner headlights come on at dusk/night. Please help.
- Note turning the headlight knob doesn't do anythinG... on the off, auto, etc.

Go into settings in the instrument cluster and verify the settings for the lights. If you have two key fobs you will have to change the setting with each key inserted.
By example, with one of my key fobs I display audio with temperature and mileage below; with the other key fob I display audio with mph and mileage below. And just for the hell of it, one key fob brings up the cluster in English, the other key fob brings up the cluster in German. For awhile one key fob had the auto-on headlight feature disabled but I re-enabled it as I prefer having the headlights turn on automatically.

Different regions have different settings, even the cluster settings are different. Canadian cars don't have the Assyst Plus service menu for example. Up here all our cars have DRL (daytime running lights), meaning our "main" headlights are always on, even during the day. So you'll be driving down the street at noon and everybody will have their headlights on. I haven't driven my car since the fall but IIRC, the main lights (xenons) are always on no matter what, and the inner city lights will come on at night. My switch is always on auto, but I believe it's the same if it's on "0". The only time the switch does something is when I unlock the car or shut it off in a dark place, the inner city lights and fog lights will stay on for a set amount of time (30s, 60s, etc). If I turn the switch to 0, all the lights are off. But very weird how your car suddenly became Canadian...

Thx for the tips...
bbirdwell = I tried and still same results. Thx!
KAMG = Thats exactly whats happening... I just replaced the starting line under the hood and wonder if that has anything to do with it. I want to avoid going to the dealership...
Anyone else this issue?!

SOLVED!
In the menu (cluster) you can set your headlight to "constant" or "manual".
When you set them on "constant" no matter what the knob is on it will be on (only front lights-at least I noticed)
Set it to Manual and turn the knob to "Auto"

I just now seen this thread. The W211 did come with it's form of DRL.
You can turn this functions off/on by using the functions key on the steering wheel to manipulate the settings inside the cluster.
