those wheel looks great on the e55. do you guys think it makes the ride much rougher? are you going with 245 front & 275 rear?
I bought my car not long ago with what i figured were tires that would last a couple years, but after replacing the fronts due to one of them being split and out of round, realizing my rears are wearing out prematurely in the middle and then falling into a crater at the taco bell drive thru (don't judge) and scraping up the right side wheels it might be worth grabbing a set of these if it can be done at a reasonable price.

Definitely not as smooth as stock wheels! But then I have cheap tires mounted on them. Still in process of deciding on which tires to get and sizes. Leaning on 275 in rear with Generals, heard they’re good and cheap. Saving money for a set of drag radials to track. 285 is too big and get minimal rubs which I don’t like cause I want to lower car for better appearance. Might go back to stock and sell CLS55 wheels. 😐
thanks for the info. i do love the look of them but it seems like a lot of the old FS posts that i came across mentioned at least one of the 4 being cracked. not sure that's a great match for these rough ny/nj roads.
are you at stock height and the 285s rub?
i was in a pinch when i had to replace my front tires otherwise i would've gone with the Generals myself...heard good things as well. ended up going with pirelli p zero all season which do seem a bit smoother than the cheapo sumitumos i had.

Was at stock height at S2 mode with slight rubs going over bumps at high speed after fender rolls. I can’t hear the rubbing but can see rubber residue under rear fenders. I lowered rear and fender won’t clear tires.

My fenders are not rolled, and I'm on 275 A/S 3s. You can see my S2 height in post #4, C and raised in post #6. I only ever drive raised or in C. S1 and S2 are for when I want to look good when parked It hasn't rubbed yet in raised mode, but in C it does rub slightly over big dips. I think the CLS wheels have too low of an offset to run 285s. My friend has the SL wheels (et 39 in the rear vs. et 28 for CLS wheels) and even he has slight rubbing issues with 285s

wondering if it makes sense for city driving to keep the suspension in raised mode to give it a little more travel
does parking in S2 really lower the car a bit more? i thought i read that it only lowers the car above 60-70mph

19s are decently comfortable, I think 20s will be very uncomfortable and not a good idea if you have bad roads where you live. The CLS wheels apparently crack pretty easily, but I haven't had any issues with mine yet.
I think S2 lowers it slightly more. Not sure if there's a difference between C and S1 though. If you are driving raised, it will automatically lower to C when above 75 mph. Then at an even higher speed it will lower to S1 or S2, I can't remember lol. It's all in the owner's manual

i just swapped a set of 20" for some 18" because i live in a rural area with poor roads and had destroyed a few tyres due to the skinny sidewalls. The 18" are a much better ride, but ultimately i want to buy a decent set of 19"
I'm running my stock 18s while my 19s are getting new tires (General 275/30/19) and they (stock 18s) are DEFINITELY smoother and more comfortable than my CLS wheels. But, CLS looks way better! Hopefully the General will gives it a better ride.
Update, So I've mounted Pirelli 275/30/19 on rears and no rubbing, it looked flushed and maybe able to lower car a lot more; I haven't tried yet, think it'll be nice to get a lower appearance. The ride feels a lot better than 285, my fenders are again rolled. I'm in search for some fronts but what I have on now gives decent ride so no hurry. Changed my mind on the General...testing different brands from used offers before dropping good money on new ones.
So I found a set of Michelin super sport for $100; 245/35/19 and the ride is a lot better than what I had on. They fit well but I feel they can a bit more flush, not sure if it’s the angle or just my eyes playing with perfection. Might try 255 next but weary they’d be rubbing. Anyhow, here’s a couple updated photos. Still figuring out lowering process of the Autel MaxiSys Mini to get it to calibrate. But front got lower but just a tad to the rear.

Chuck, yes it’s a good add on that flow nicely with the front lip. I tucked mine in unlike others that stick em up and out to get a more aggressive appearance. Install are easier than front lip. You should check out the DRLs too.
