Old CLS55 19" wheels on Old E55

Might be 10 years late, when these wheels were popular then but finally got my wheels upgraded from stock. Had to powder coated them and they turned out Amazing for $400 BUCKS! Here are before and after photos. I've ceramic coated them with Avalon King's Armor Shield IX which I received two bottles for free by participating in the influencer campaign, thanks IB Cheryl! Also ceramic coated my new headlight cover lens, and XY CF lip; gonna do the whole car after I clean up some paint defects spots.

Oh yeah, want to give a self alibi, still working on lights alignment to fit better with new bumper from Gary@suvneer, pulling bumper and light assembly to install Morimoto clear projector lens.

BEFORE MODS

SPRAY CAN PAINTED WHEELS by previous owner (AMG_POWER)

with godhand lip

AFTER

With XY lip, haven't glue on the chrome trim on fog lights

Rear wheels are concaved inward compared to front

feels smooth to the touch after ceramic coats

New rubbers on their way, maybe lower car a tad

Haven't decided on center caps

REAR, fenders got rolled but thinks tires still rubs a bit on S2 mode

gotta get back there and clean them pipes & tips

The house down the street got a GT3RS past the hoarder house

Looks good, but that star grill has to go. They just don't look right on these cars. Needs more low too.

I love the CLS wheels, so easy to clean too haha. This is me in S2 I have since raised the rear a tad bit, but it still rubs sometimes in C. I only drive raised or in comfort only, fenders not rolled and 275 rears.

Lowering would look a lot better but will definitely rub, going to drive around with these set of tires and see if the other drive mode would make a difference.

The STAR stays!

Agreed, very easy to ceramic coat them too, helps keep wheels shiny and deflect dust somewhat. You still rub even with 275? I was thinking going 295, I got 285 on now. Can you post more pictures of your wheels? Wanna see what 275 looks like. What would 295 look like?

When I switch to Akebono pads I'd like to ceramic coat the wheels. Then I don't have to clean them every 2 days lol. I think the stock size is 285 for the CLS55 rears. I actually got my set from a friend with a CLS55 and he was running 295 P Zeroes, but they looked too wide for the wheel IMO. 285s could work but it can't be a tire with a really square shoulder like the Hankook RS3s. I think 295s will need a wheel with higher offset. Here's my current setup, this is in comfort and raised aka monster truck mode In comfort it only rubs over bigger dips, and I have A/S 3s

Your car looks great even on Monster Truck Mode! The first photo is on S2? Was that you saying the S2 mode is just for looks and make no difference in driving performance? Does it? How so, I felt more aggressive in sounds and driving when on S2. Let me know will ya! Thanks...

S2 just lowers the car and stiffens it up. Doesn't change anything else that I know of (exhaust, steering, throttle, etc). I meant my S2 is for looks as in I don't drive in S2 or S1 because it'll probably rub like no tomorrow lol. The photo in post #4 is S2 (for shows), photo with Canadian Tire in the background is C (what I usually drive in), and Krispy Kreme picture is raised

Updates, just installed clear projector lens by Morimoto and a test to see how blacken chrome linings looks like which I gutted a light assembly from a junk 06 E350, I think they turned out NICE! Also installed a DTK tuned TCU and car shifts much smoother and seems faster; I like it A LOT! I'm probably sticking with 245/285 and may constantly changing drive mode to prevent rubbing or what not and not to mention scrapping lip. Still testing tires out and not making final for a couple weeks more.

Here's some photos of lights I've done. Let me know if y'all want me to post a DIY? Also, I figured out how to adjust the drooping driver's side light housing to raised it up.

His Videos kool and enjoy the 4K quality!

Question...did you had to change your lug nuts when switching to CLS55 wheels? Had two guys saying my lugs from stock wheels doesn’t seem to be right fitment for CLS55 wheels.

I used the original lug nuts. I remember reading through a bunch of threads with people switching to the CLS55 wheels but no one mentioned having to use other nuts. What is the problem with the original ones? I know you can't use the original E55 lug nuts with the older Mercedes wheels (i.e. Monoblocks)

i think it would only be a problem if the taper is different as the amount of surface contact with the wheel would be different?

I tried Googling but couldn't find much info on E55 vs CLS55 lug nuts, maybe someone can chime in. I'll compare mine with my buddy's CLS55 lug nuts once I'm back in town

Edit: just checked on EPC, they should both be ball seat M14x1.5x30.7, part #A0009904907

KAMG,

I just noticed on your car: are those chrome insert behind your handles? If so, how you like em? I found a set for $20 and thinking of installing. Let me know to help me make decision to put then on. Thanks!

Previous owner installed them. I was going to remove them at first but then thought it looked kind of nice with the rest of the chrome trim. If I black out all the chrome one day I'll definitely remove them. Plus it protects the paint from fingernails, rings, etc of people opening my doors, especially on a black car

use factory lug bolts for factory wheels. ball and seat, cone, etc will need to match for safety.
