FSS question
I was checking the oil level in the service menu, and it was indicating E service in 7,234 miles. 2,000 miles ago it said it needed D service in 9,266 miles. Why did it switch from D, to E? I don't think I inadvertently reset the D service.
Also I re-sealed the leaking oil filter housing, and added some oil. What do you guys see for oil level in service mode? I had been seeing around 7.6 quarts on a cold engine. Now it's at 8.2 quarts. Might have added too much.
This weekend I started with replacing the dead intercooler pump. That is when I discovered the oil leak in the left front. I drained the coolant, and refilled with a gal. of MB coolant, and a gal. of distilled water. I did bleed the intercooler system. The water pump, and thermostat was dealer serviced a 1-1/2 years ago, so I am assuming they replace the same amount of coolant. I should be ok in the coolant department.
Thanks for any info on oil level. (yes, I did search quite a bit).

I put in two 5 quart jugs and a fresh MANN filter every oil change. Been working for 100k. Any less and my oil level says not when engine's on. Stays in the 7. something to 8.something when running. I never check it anymore because I know exactly how much oil is in there.
If you don't know already, there is two drain plugs. And don't skimp on the oil or the filter quality.

The oil was changed at the dealer 4 months, (2000miles) ago. I just added a little to make up for the loss from re-sealing the oil filter housing. I am just curious if anyone has checked their oil level with a factory dipstick, and then verified it by checking in "service mode"?
