Titanium lug bolts

Bought these titanium lug bolts a while back and decided to install them today. For some reason I am a little hesitant. I wonder about strength and their ability to handle the torque of the E55. I have read horror stories of snapped aftermarket lug bolts on E55's.

Hence a 5 pound reduction in rotating mass is similar to removing 40 pounds anywhere else in the car. This decrease in rotational mass results in quicker acceleration and lower fuel consumption. The weight savings when using lighter lug nuts or bolts is equivalent to the weight savings achieved when using lighter wheels. In today's high performance applications where lightweight wheels are a must, why use standard steel lug nuts when you can use stronger and lighter ACERLug Titanium wheel lug nuts and Titanium wheel lug bolts?

6AL4V Titanium properties include a tensile strength of 1000 MPa (megapascals) which is the equivalent of 145000 psi. By comparison, annealed type 316 stainless steel has tensile strength of only 570 MPa (82670 psi), tempered 6061 aluminium alloy has tensile strength of 310 MPa, and Grade 1 Titanium has a tensile strength of only 240 MPa (34809 psi). Our titanium is unaffected by the high heat caused in racing applications which causes fatigue in steel lug bolts. We roll our threads for the best resistance against fatigue. Do not accept lower grade titanium or steel lug nuts - use only the best: ACERLug."

Maybe the alloys are better now, but maybe 15 years ago I read the dirt bike racers quit using titanium axles because they couldn't count on them.

See titanium wheel lug bolts in action, this is why people don't use them. And if that didn't convince you, then maybe this will.

The titanium bolts look good but not worth the risk to me even though they would probably be just fine. I e-mailed Acer but no reply yet. Maybe I'll powder coat the original bolts and use a soft lug wrench to try and avoid cracking the paint. Glad I spent ~300 bucks on something I now have no use for.
Don't think titanium lug bolts were the problem in the RX-7 video, it seems he used the wrong pitch bolts.

I bought new chrome plated steel bolts for my last Mercedes. They were perfect, looked great and of course strong. I don't even know if they should be used for the supercharger pulleys.

I dip my bolts in silver paint to put them in. Can't chip it when it's wet and the socket repaints the corners.as you go.

I've been using Titanium wheel lug bolts on my E55 for at least 2 years (maybe longer) without issue. My car is a Kleemann Stage 2 and gets driven. I also have Ti lug nuts on another car (installed about 2 years ago as well) and no issue either.

Do you torque your titanium lugs to stock value or is there a rating the comes with the lugs?

The recommendation from the manufacturer is torque to stock

Hello, any user feedback on these titanium wheel bolts? I had been looking at some from Acer but still on the fence. Did you get the 28mm length for stock wheels or do you run aftermarket wheels? Thanks in advance!

The Rx7 video was NOT using titanium bolts, it was using lug nuts with the wrong thread.

I use Ti wheel bolts on my 355, and have sold several dozen sets to other owners with F-cars over the past 5 years, no issues.
