What tires and level of traction do you have?

Michelin pilot 4s up front for me. I have the normal pilot 4's on my 18s up front. Rear I have a set of nankang crayons and evo2s from hankook. Before that I had the semi slick rsz3s or whatever from hankook as well both tyre grip well the semi slick seemed to last me a decent time a few track days and drag racing and general street abuse. I have to replace my rears every 6 months at best

I ran these on the CLK55, unfortunately still had some traction issues but not as bad as the E55. I am currently running the potenza RE003's on the mr2 but that doesn't have much power, they certainly handle very very well though.
Oh well, sounds like my situation is normal. I might try the cup 2's next time if I can afford them and they come in the correct size, even just on the rear. I think any good quality summer tire on the front will be fine.

Can you get Toyo Proxes R888R? Youtube channel Dragtimes uses these on his Mclaren 720S and rips some good 60ft times. Here in the states the Toyo is cheaper but just as good of a tire. But the R888R will not last as long as Cup 2 and will be louder if that matters. Made in Japan so it should be an option for you.

Stock sizes exactly, I know there were some different wheels in different markets but mine were 225/18 and 255/18 from the factory, sorry I don't remember the ratio's, it's been a while since I owned it
Yep we have Toyo's here but I appear to be quite sensitive to road noise. The S007a's are actually fairly good on the road noise. Oh well it will be a while before the rears run down but sounds like there are at least 2-3 others I can try when the time comes.

@e55amg0220 Thanks for the recommendation, I’ve had the g-max as-05 on for about a week now. Excellent grip, great performance in heavy rain, low road noise and priced right given that my tire life is 15k miles if I’m lucky. It’s also nice that I can now drive in cold weather as opposed to the summer tires.
if anyone is considering a performance all-season, general g-max as-05 is highly recommended.

My favorite and my go to until something better comes along is Michelin Pilot Sport series. I have the older model Pilot Super Sports and like the fact that it is quiet, last relatively long, pretty good wet traction for my area (So Cal), and corners good.
That said I looked up the reviews of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S of Chevy owners and one Corvette with a supercharged LS3 and said the following:
"The car is Automatic 6speed with EForce Supercharger the car can pull 1.7 60' times with 32lbs. air pressure coming off the line at a idle."
Pricey tire but for me has so many things I like in a tire it's hard to buy something else unless the car is a weekend car.

On an S55 AMG, I am running 285s Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s and consistently pull low 1.9x 60ft on street surfaces. My best was 1.89. Lat gee is @ ~1 during launch. This is open diff and ~4700lbs race weight. No prep street surface on street tires it did 11.82 @ 119.9. You don't need radials to run 11's.

Being in southern California don't have to worry much about weather.. but in the rain these haven't let me down. The Michelin Pilot Super Sports are my go to tire for all of my cars. I will be trying the 4s's when these eventually wear out. They offer a good ride, not too loud. I've had Continental DW's and DWS's on other cars. They are good as well. But these are my new favorite tire. Prior to that I had Continental DW's on everything, just not this car. They were considerably louder but better in the rain, but only marginally.

Comparing between Continental DSW 06 and General Gmax As-05, size 265-35-18, $186.99 vs $168.03. For $18 difference, I am leaning forward the DSW. Tire Rack has the comparison, DSW wins in most contests. I currently have DSW on mine, pretty happy with those.

Tires I've driven with on my E55:
1. Continental ContiSport 2; didn't like them. Noisy. Mediocre traction. Very expensive.
2. Michelin Pilot Super Sport (discontinued in USA market): good, decent traction, not too noisy, good steering feel. Reasonably priced. Good treadlife, but not great.
3. Michelin Pilot A/S 3+: good, traction is not as good as super sport, not too noisy but probably slightly noiser than the Super Sport. Steering feel might be worse than before. I'm expecting longer treadlife on this tire. (I'm currently on this tire)
4. Michelin Pilot PS4: my next tire. The A/S 3+ is good, but I do feel that I need something with better traction. So I'm hoping to try the PS4 next.

I had both versions Hankook V12 Evo (1&2) on my w210 e55. They were decently priced but wore quick for me with a lead foot. I was replacing those about at 12-15k miles.
Currently running Pirelli PZero Nero GT summer tires. Very happy with the grip and tread life for the prices. However, grip declines dramatically after 15-18k even though there is some tread left.

I thought I would provide a bit of an update on these S007a tires. I did a spirited drive through some straight and winding roads yesterday. The corners felt a lot better than with many previous tires I have had. I found many 45km/hr marked corners I could take at 80-90km/hr and the car felt great, planted, confident and even comfortable. Supposedly they have much firmer side walls so I guess this can be expected. I think the dry traction is improving as the tires get a bit more wear on them too. I didn't bother trying 1st but 2nd seemed better than before even on rough roads.
