glycol/valeo Q:could a glycol'ed-transmission affect a brand new torque converter?
my car had the valeo issue. i noticed some shuddering and random noises. my tech said there was coolant in the trans oil and and basically oil in the coolant. i had the valeo replaced with a nissen and a very thorough flush at a private mb-only shop.
now that the actual problem is solved, my car still doesnt drive perfectly.
i know the glycol can affect the torque converter and trans.
my plan was to basically drive it til i was stranded . . i dont necessarily need a 100% reliable car right now.
should i do both at once when the time comes? i was hoping to continue driving like this for 1year+
if i get a new TQ could it be infected by the already-seen-glycol trans?
do i need both?
a real MB tech drove it and instantly said "torque converter" without me giving him any warning/hints. he wasnt around in 03 and never heard of the e55 glycol problem.
thanks in advance

You need a complete flush including the Torque Converter. I mean flush the whole dam thing. Because engine coolant will eventually deteriorate the clutch disks inside the transmission.
And cause the transmission to shudder, slip and not shift. Engine coolant kills transmissions. That is why some with older style radiators have switch to a dedicated trans cooler.

If the torque converter was replaced and transmission fully flushed then no, I don't believe the transmission could affect it. However some amount of damage was done to the transmission. Further damage is now prevented but what shape is it left in?
Rebuild time is when you get the impermissible gear ratio code.

huh? after i got the radiator replaced privately i went on a drive with a tech from the MB dealer...it wasnt free. they said torque converter and first recommended "service xyz " (froget which letter) which first changed the trans fluid. i immediately left as he just confirmed my thoughts . . (and fluid was changed 2 days prior since i had just got it back from the private shop) what benefit would i have from lying lol im tryin to fix my car

I buy new when I can afford to otherwise a rebuild with a warranty should be perfectly fine. I never buy anything used if I can help it, you never know what condition it is in.
