Total engine oil?
I’m about to take my car in for a service at a Mercedes Benz workshop ( Mercedes Benz sends half their cars in for service here aswell ) this will be my first time servicing the car, they told me they use total motor oil...Anyone have any experiences with it or would you recommend going somewhere where they actually use Mobil one... also what grade should I be using 05 e55 70,000 kms

It takes 0w40 or 5w40 mobil 1. Otherwise everyone has an opinion on what to use. I use mobil 1 or motul xcess. Anything that meets 229.5 spec will be fine. I haven't come across the oil you mention.

I agree with tw2 just make sure it meets specifications per MB. Looks like a quality product but I’ve never heard of them either. Maybe they do private label for some other brands or something?

I have never heard of Total Motor Oil. But like Jake528 and tw2 have mentioned, sometimes the big oil manufacturer will re-brand their oil for another distributor or market. But if it meets 229.5 spec, then your good to go.

I recently serviced my E55k and used Liqui Moly Molygen 5w40 (green bottle and green oil, looks like the hulks blood..)
The Molygen 5w40 was well priced and from all the reviews i've seen, its performed excellent when tested. I then saw that FCP euro also sell a oil change kit with the Molygen oil for our E55's so i decided to give it a bash and i wasn't disappointed one bit... The engine seems to run alot quieter and smoother after replacing the oil and filter.
Maybe give it a shot if you want to and see how it suits your engine... Honestly speaking the LM Molygen oil for my E55 cost me less than LM GT1 Ractech oil needed for my BMW M car... and the merc uses 3Liters more...
Here is one of the tests...

Geneally I stick with the Castrol Edge (european formula made by BP) which is 229.5 A3/B4 0w-40. Used that in my V12 BMWs and continue to use it today (put almost 500,000 miles on the two BMWs).
