Personally I use a mini pick but you run the risk of snapping off the plastic tab....you've been warned

when I saw you take the whole assembly out as one after removing the e8, I tried it from underneath the car. got the e8 out, pulled out everything and used a pick to separate. many thanks. good job!!! bill

on the e55 it is easier to take this out from underneath the car if you have a lift available. if you disconnect the o2 sensor wire on the right rear of the engine and then remove the 2 bolts on the left side, you can move all the sensors off to the left and see the crank sensor. the torx bolt can be removed with a e8 socket and a 1/4 socket.
