Full Coverage Insurance?
I was wondering, since our vehicles are old and most of us keep them in great condition, do you guys still have full coverage insurance?
I still maintain full coverage but I just started thinking if it’s still worth it? I feel like it’s worth it because my car still looks fckn good and performs well but I wanted to get your guys thoughts?

Never heard of anyone having to pay for a guardrail before. Town never pays for tires when I hit a pothole. Doesn't seem fair.

I just replaced my front bumper (and all the required parts), splash shield, oil cooler and had the hood resprayed after a minor collision with some junk on the highway.
The bills was $5K.
Definitely worth it for me.

KInda depends on what your car is worth, cash you have saved, increase in payments for full coverage.
HOw likely you are to ever need it based on your driving and luck history

Full coverage for me, but also for the other driver. As you never know what cut rate insurance they have if any.

if you own an AMG...ALWAYS ALWAYS have full coverage. the rear bumper shell (W211 E63) alone cannot be found used and new retails for 1800 for the shell alone.
as far as damage to city property...in northern california the bay area in particular, it is fact that the city will attempt to fine you 10k for a guard rail...they look to it as a way to get you. the guard rail probably costs them 200, and labor 1000. but as you know with government agencies, money just appears and disappears.

All you need is some a-hole to back into you in a car park, take off or have no money or insurance and you could be out a few thousand. I have always had full cover even on my crappiest cars. Here you get a free windscreen each year too with your policy, oem dealer installed screen on am AMG covers a lot of premiums.

I have full coverage on my E63. My W210 E320 and beater Dodge Ram 1500 both just have liability since they're not worth enough to justify spending any more on insurance than that. I'm willing to walk away from either of them if they get wrecked.

Full coverage for me and i was surprised it was only $75/mo. i don't drive the car to work daily and only estimated about 7,500 miles a year. also, it probably helps that i didn't own a car for 8 years and my driving record is squeaky clean for the time being.
has anyone had trouble getting a fair payout on a totaled car? i just checked kbb and it's high end value is still a few grand less than a paid 8 months ago.

I use USAA who has always been more than fair on they payouts I've had due. I've heard plenty of stories of others with different insurances fighting to get enough to replace the car though.

As for your flat tire, depends on the state. I think the rule here is that the state doesn't pay, but if it's the city, they might pay up, depends on several factors. Laws of course vary in other states/cities.

It's pretty common for them to go after the insurance to pay for the guard rail. Otherwise it's your tax dollars that are going to be used to fix it. Why should the taxpayer pay for it when you know who actually did it?

I was one of the first to blow out a wheel/tire on it. Shortly after there were 5-6 more cars pulled over with flats after hitting the same spot.

Without a doubt, I always get full coverage on my daily drivers. It's paid for itself twice so far.
Even when my wife totaled my 99 C43, full coverage still paid for a $6,500 repair.
