e55 vs 2020 Charger Hellcat
Was reading an article today that a 2020 Charger Hellcat will have 707 hp and 650 TQ with a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds. I find it amazing that my completely stock '05 E55 can hit 60 in 4.1 seconds ( admittedly it's the best I ever did in it but still )....just a thought...

I would guess 0-60 is still a drivers race on performance summer tires despite the HP difference. The traction is a huge issue. I watched some 600 and 800rwhp challengers and chargers do best of about 4.6 0-60 having huge issues. Then throw on drag radials and do 3.6 no problem.

Well yeah but roll racing will be an embarrassment. Plus, 0.5 sec is a big difference and in the real world people can land faster 0-60’s than 3.6 with charger hellcats just like you can land a faster than stock time in your e55. Can’t deny that the e55 has held up really well performance wise though, you’re right!

The smaller the number in 0-60, the more power it takes.
The difference from 4.4 (the original factory tested E55 time) to the factory tested Charger Hellcat time of 3.6 is 19%.
That's the same as comparing a car that can do it in 5.0 seconds versus 5.95 seconds. There's a power delta that grows and grows as the numbers get smaller.
Going from 3.6 seconds to 3.0 seconds is no where near the same as going from 5.6 to 5.0.

Any 4wd car will kill a 2wd car with the same hp 0-60. This IMO is a rather useless number when comparing cars. I have a V-box set for 100-160 kph and 100-200 kph. The comparison using either of these with other car road tests will give a far more accurate idea of the actual street performance relative to other cars. My modded SL55 has done 3.6 sec 0-100 kph. Compare that to the new E63S which does it in 3.2 sec. However I know my car will pull away in any rolling start drag race.

The w211 AMGs are still fast by today’s standards, which is very impressive for being 15+ years old. But they do not compete with today’s sport sedans like the Hellcat, new E63 etc which are supercar fast. That extra 0.5 second to 60 is a massive difference at those speeds.

About a year ago, I raced a Charger Hellcat from a stop light. I got him off the line, then he realized what I was doing, and quickly overtook me. But I already knew that was going to happen. How can my 07 E63 with crank pulley, headers and a tune compete with 700+ HP. But it was fun...

He's pushing 600hp without any forced induction. And absolutely crushes my car. He didn't think I was actually trying, too.

Buddy has a C6 z06... Headers, cam, and heads rebuilt (because apparently all of the C6 z06 engines have bad machining in the valve bores that will drop valves before they reach 100k miles).

I've had my E63 for awhile now and have never had a race in it. I did have some teenagers that knew what the car was that wanted me to get on it on the highway once. I obliged and they were happy as **** when they caught back up to me. Last weekend I also had some insane crackhead mother****er that knew what an AMG was lose his **** over it at the liquor store. His mostly incoherent screaming with "AMG" and "6.3" thrown in meant he knew a bit about cars. He started screaming more when I came out and wanted me to light the tires up (he was doing the do a burnout motion with his hands). It was a small parking lot so that didn't happen. I got a chuckle out of it.
I ****ing love liquor stores.
