E55 steering noise

Hi i don't want to start a new thread but I can't find anything with the symptoms that I have... My front end is making weird grinding noises, it seems like is coming from the tires... Standing still if I turn the steering wheel left and right it's squeaking like crazy....I appreciate the help on advance

Car free at the moment
Does it make funny (well, un-funny) noises while driving it, particularly while pulling into or out of a parking spot? Any noise made by turning the tires while standing still doesn't count.

The system will make noise if it is just a little bit low on fluid. Check the power steering fluid level. And by check, that means remove the cap, wipe the little dipstick, then reinsert it to measure the fluid level. If it's low, top it up. The car uses Pentosin CHF 11S fluid. It is expensive, but reasonably easy to find.

Thanks for the reply, the power steering flued seems good, I don't notice a leak any where in the system... I did however noticed that the squeaking stopped just after washing the car, I did spray water in the fender opening above the tire... It seems like whatever is making that noise got wet and it stopped temporary... But it came back

If it sounds like a hinge with no oil, or loud grinding, sure it is your ball joint.
Got mine replaced a month ago.
Good Luck.

Had the creaking noise and replaced lower ball joints. Getting the noise again so have the upper ball joints that need to install.

Sounds like the R.M.S. Titanic, lol. My lower left ball joint is popping/clunking when turning or going over speed bumps. The seal is shot and I just squirt some oil on it once in a while to make it quiet again. Thinking about doing a complete front-end rebuild at 100K. I'd try spraying some Wurth HHS grease around the the front ball joint seams to see if that solves the issue. Please post the fix once you figure it out.

Anything to stop that noise, must be embarrassing. I have squealing belts and a knocking left ball joint when my car is cold. Feels like I'm driving a clunker around the parking garage at work when the car is cold. After it warms up, the sounds go away. Let us know how it goes.

Had that same exact sound on a few customers cars plus my car and and after changing out the ball joints it got worse and it turned out to be front lower control arm bushings..so now every customer that comes in we change both while we do the control arm bushing

Use that HD ball joints and the car drives better then new

Sorry to bring up an old thread but my car is making the exact same noise and its driving me crazy! When you say lower control arm bushings are you talking about the silver thrust arms that connect from the knuckle to the frame?
