My installer had an observation, apparently OCarbon sprayed the center consoles roll up door with thick paint, the edges wouldn't ride in the groove.
This observation was made when they installed Worth the Wait's carbon fiber interior trim on his E55.
So I reached out to Matt at OCarbon, he informed me that they ran into this issue before, and that they now use a thinner paint.
And if I have this issue, to just send it back and they will make it right. Well, my whole purpose was to address and avoid this issue before the trim is even shipped to me.
I will reach out to Matt again later this week to get an ETA. And also contact DCT Motorsports for an update on the CF shift knob.

Good News Update,
Hi William,
Just waiting for the pieces to come out of the oven and then we can get them sanded smooth and clear coated. Shouldn’t be too much longer now.

That car is beautiful. I almost purchased a white E55 the only issue with the car was the previous owner smoked cigars. The car stunk and I was afraid the smell would never go away. So I passed.

It's not there yet, still waiting for the pieces to arrive from OCarbon. One day soon thou. The Carbon Fiber, I have to admit does look good.
I first seen it in my buddy Brian's E55, I said Dammmmmm So I mad it my mission to acquire the trim pieces.
I was told by Matt (OCarbon) that my pieces have come out of the oven, they require sanding and polishing and shouldn't be too much longer.
Which is great news for me, as I can't wait to install it.

No amount of cleaning, will ever get rid of it. It was probably was a good thing, that you didn't buy it. Any car that a owner smoked in stinks.....period.

The thing is, that you'll never be able to completely get rid of the cigar smell. As the smoke has permeated into everything, headliner, seat, carpet, AC vents.

Yep. I called around to see if anyone could guarantee they could get the smell out, no one would. The shops, including Mercedes said cigar smoke is the worst. The car was in great shape, it did sell quick anyhow.

But I have heard about the car bomb, similar to a bug bomb that you close every window of your house, and set these bombs off to kill roaches. Well the car bomb, is set off with every window close and the AC running, the idea is to circulate this perfume cleaner through out the entire car.
Thereby killing off the bad odors. I don't know if it actually works or not. But if you have to go thru all this, and it still doesn't work, then what?

Update from Matt @ OCarbon: The pieces are back in the oven now to cure again after getting more epoxy. You’ll see in the pics how much thicker it is this go around.
They’ll come out in the next few days and then we can clear coat them and get them ready to ship. So probably sometime next week, you should receive them.

For those that might be interested in also getting this done for your AMG. The OCarbon fiber interior trim set replaces all of your original trim pieces with real carbon fiber.
They take your OEM trim and wrap it with real carbon fiber, coat it with best in class epoxy, and finish it off with high solids automotive clear coat. It is real carbon fiber, manufactured the same way OEM carbon fiber trim is manufactured, by laminating the carbon fiber to a core.
This method retains all the OEM tabs and fixture points so it fits exactly like the OEM trim. There are a couple of different setups for the W211, depending on the model year and options. The center console slider is painted black to match the carbon.
They had a very hard time with delaminating of the carbon fiber on their sliders. Pricing for this set starts at $750. Remember that you will need a core to send them, before they can get started. After my pieces arrived, hopefully next week, I will have a core for anyone needing it.
Please PM me for more information, on this or the steering wheel, instrument cluster, shift knob.

Good News I just talked to Ivan at DCT Motorsports, he said that he will have photos for me very soon, and that my Keyless Go Shift Knob should arrive in 10 days.
I don't know if he meant, that he's receiving it in ten days from Taiwan, or that I should get it in ten days or he's shipping it out in ten days.
Either way, this is good news as my vision is finally becoming reality. My Interior trim is supposed to arrive next week, according to Matt@oCarbon
And I already have my Black Series CF Instrument Cluster. So after the knob and interior get here, then I'm all set.

More great news from oCarbon,
In the final stages now, getting everything clear coated. Will need a couple days to cure before we can wet sand and polish, then we'll have to re-affix all the chrome with a bonding adhesive.
I'll get some pics of everything for you tomorrow.

Well I just had my Black Series Instrument Cluster Cover installed. Now the wait is on for the Carbon interior trim and carbon shift knob. I think that it looks good, but I'm impartial.

Greatest news ever.... My interior carbon fiber trim should be shipping out today. Matt@oCarbon is just putting the finishing touches on a couple more pieces.
This is possibly the best custom carbon fiber trim kit out there, and I don't say those words lightly.
After my CF trim is installed, I will be offering up my original maple trim pieces to anyone interested in getting there interior done.
You will have to pay for shipping, but the donor pieces will be free as long as you promise to have your trim pieces done with Matt@Ocarbon.

Carbon Fiber Interior Trim has shipped
Well the owner of oCarbo (Matt), has shipped off my CF Interior Trim, should arrive this Saturday. And he also provided some more photos, these pieces are beautiful.
If your thinking about doing this, remember that you need donor pieces, so that you don’t have to disassemble your interior, and wait 6-8 weeks for the new pieces to arrive.
I will have donor pieces available after mine CF is installed. If anyone is interested. PM me to be the first in line, remember you pay for shipping, but the pieces are free. But theirs a catch, you have to send these pieces to OCarbon to manufacture, and when your new pieces arrive you do the same for someone else....paying it forward.

Recently I hit a major hurdle, DCT Motorsports was supposed to make my keyless go carbon fiber shift knob. Well, they bowed out on me, after 2 months have passed, and sent me my money back, refund is currently pending.
This left me scrambling to find a carbon shifter or someone that can make it for me. I reached out to my boy Nicholas Wright, and below is his response.
I just got your message. I can definitely do it for you. I charge about $600 to do full carbon shift knobs. I know not cheap, but they require about 20 hours of my time to make. I do know of one other guy that produces carbon fiber overlay parts, I’m not sure if he is any cheaper, however if my price is too high it might be worth reaching out to him. Let me know if you’re interested in me doing it or if you would like his contact info.
The knob to get the weave laid down perfectly takes a great deal of time, otherwise the weave will look distorted. I pride myself on top notch work, and wouldn’t want to make a part that has a flaw or looks out of place in a full carbon interior. That is the only reason I have a very high price for my steering wheels and shift knobs.
In regards to the bonding with your knob, the leather has to be pulled and a fiberglass shell has to be formed on to the knob, before you can actually adhere carbon fiber on to it. This is done by a conventional vacuum layup with fiberglass, followed by a carbon fiber laminate. The groove that makes the knob look like it is two pieces is actually cut and rounded into one piece of carbon fiber twill. It is in fact one piece of carbon fiber. If done correctly it looks factory. Let me know what you decide in the next week, I’d be glad to help you out.

My CF Interior Trim is being installed, as I write this. So I will say this one last time, if there is anyone out there thinking about taking on his transformation, and needs a interior trim donor core, then please PM me.
You pay for shipping. I will have a complete set for you to use to send out for resurfacing in carbon fiber. As long as you send it to oCarbon for the work. And that you offer your pieces to next person, as our way of paying it forward.
