Gentleman,
We are getting away from my initial question. I was under the assumption, that in order to differentiate a true AMG from their lesser cousins, AMG did a switch-a-roo and reversed the AMG and model number of the trunk.
But I've been told that their doing this on all the models now. So my original assumption was incorrect. I can tell a real from a lesser, from a mile away..... trust me, I point out posers all the time.

Pulled up to a AMG GT 53 at the stop light, initially thought it was a 63 and was ready to go h2h with him. Rolled my window to chat, first thing came out of his mouth were his car is f’d up. Light turned green and I gunned it anyway to let him know what a real AMG is capable of.
