Front bumper repair/replace
I have a 2006 E55 with an aftermarket (I believe) E63 front bumper on it that was fitted on the car already when I bought it. I was driving "briskly" down the road at night on a rural road, and a raccoon ran out in front of the car. The raccoon certainly got the worst of it, but the car took some damage as well. The lip that runs under the intercooler grill is cracked clean through. Can that be repaired or is replacement the key? If replaced, what's the better unit to get, OEM (must be real pricey I'm guessing) or aftermarket? If aftermarket, which fits the best?
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, guys.

A good shop can fix it but it may be cheaper to just buy another. Get an estimate and then decide.

My $0.02:
1. Find a bodyshop you trust
2. Ask them how much it would cost to repair the section and repaint the bumper (or if you're lucky, just that lower center section)
3. Compare that to price of a Suvneer bumper + repaint
You are correct, a new OE unit will not make since financially - they are very expensive. So expensive, that a lot of E63s are running the Suvneer unit. Beware though, there are other E63 style bumpers that are not an excellent match like the Suvneer one is. Good luck!

If it is an after market bumper, I would not recommend wasting your time with a repair. The plastic on the aftermarket units are to flimsy.
If it is OEM, repairing is an option. A good way to tell is the OEM/USA bumpers have side reflectors.
If you want to upgrade from your aftermarket to OEM you will need a considerable amount of OEM parts. Figure over $2k, just in parts.
Best of luck!
