You need to tell us what car, what year, what type transmission. (722.6 -722.9 ) and preferably transmission number.

Of course. It's the 722.6 i'm wondering about. I see know that I was not very clear in my first post.
My specific car is 2005 cls55 but I want to know more in generall which fluid you guys use on your e55's since it's the same gearbox. Oem or other brands?

Just check the MB spec sheets.

In the US, I use Shell ATF 134. About $5 a quart at a Shell distributor as it's about $60 for a case of 12 quarts. Much cheaper than the dealer or any places online...

MaxLife full synthetic is about $18 a gallon and pretty easy to find here in the states. The 722.6 has many different factory fills and isn’t very picky about what’s in it.

Maxlife isn't on MB's approved sheets. Valvoline tends to do that, they don't always pay to get their fluid on the approved list. Also as that fluid is supposed to be good for several other transmission, I just prefer one that meets the MB specs not one that claims to do everything but isn't approved by the car manufacturer. That type of fluid has more appeal to shop owners and stores who like to carry a one size fits all type fluid. Makes you really wonder if it's because it really doesn't meet spec or if they were just too cheap to pay for it. Shell ATF 134 is on their list. Fuchs and Motul are also on their approved list.In any event I think you're always safe using a fluid that's on the approved list.

I will say this, if you don't use the recommended fluid that's prescribed for your vehicle, you could end up with wear issues on the clutch disks, heat issues due to too thin of an oil, etc.

That's correct. I usually just check wis for fluid specs but since i have no acess to my computer right now i tough i ask here about what is commonly used.
I stick with the Motul i mentioned previously. I like that brand and it's approved so good stuff.

Question, if I'm only doing a trans oil change with draining the pan, changeing filter and the connector but not a total flush. How many liters of fluid do i need to be safe? Cls 55 from 2005.
