E55 Intrument Cluster

2006 E55 AMG , 2005 Clk55 AMG , 2009 Range Rover Vogue
E55 Intrument Cluster
Does anybody know what could be wrong with my Instrument Cluster ? The LED screen that shows the Odometer / Mileage and would normally show the Selected Gear to the left of the Odometer and the selected type of shift option to the right of the Odometer is not there . Meaning the Odometer is there but the
P R N D or 1 2 3 4 5 is not showing up , it's just Blank . And on the other side it should show C , S , or M for the transmission mode , and that isn't showing up either . It never has as long as I've had the car .I didn't notice that when I bought the car and haven't wanted to address the issue until now . When you just cruising it's no big deal . But when you want to get down it would be nice to know what gear your in when your paddle shifting . Also what mode your tranny is in too . Starting to get annoying . I haven't pulled anything apart yet cause I wanted to see If anybody has seen this issue before . I don't want to take a bunch of stuff apart if I don't have to if you know what I mean .
Does anybody have any Idea what could be wrong . I've scanned the car and there is no codes anywhere that is Indicating what could be wrong there .

Have you checked the fuse for the instrument cluster, that is where I would start. Check your owners manual to located where it's located.
Also I call to your local dealership, and ask one of their service advisors, if they've ever seen this issue before and what could be the cause.
But don't take it in. Luckily for me, I have a friend that is an AMG Master Tech/Shop Foreman at my local dealership to consult with.
Personally I would take it into your local repair shop, and get their take on it. Maybe they've seen this issue before.

Ok cool . I have an Autel Maxisys Elite . . So re-code the Instrument Cluster is what I keep hearing ? I've been in the Automotive repair world for 34 years . I wanted to see if anybody out there knew what was going on before I started ripping the car apart . When you work on other peoples cars all day the last thing you want to do is have to work on your own . LOL . Hey thank you very much for the info . Very appreciative !!

Both of my trusted techs, have said the same thing. It's neither bad coding issue, or your cluster is going bad, and needs replacement.

fixed mine with my scan tool, simple coding issue but you’ll be lost if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Good thing we have members that shares their know how’s and helping others.

Thanks Again Guys , That's all it took was re-coding the GateWay . Here's another one though . LOL . Now it says "Tire Pressure Monitor Not Installed" in the Speedo Screen every time I get In the Car and leaves an error message . WTF over . Fix one thing sothing else pops up . Went through the coding and tried to turn it off through the same coding that fixed the Shift modes . Any thoughts on that one ?
