I have wavetrac unit and haven’t had any issue so far. I’ve driven it out of town nice and slow to car shows and ripped the s h I t out of it around town and on the open highway. Also did some dead stand still “blow the tires off” take offs that’s scares you! lol.
The car has also been down the track a few times and ran a 10 sec pass by the owner that put the car together.

So far so good!!

I just had a look at the differential bearings, they are not exactly cheap, need to possibly factor in about $250-300 of replacement parts for the installation.

If you're looking to get really trick and money isn't a factor, ceramic bearings will incecase efficiency

Differential bearings are not cheap. Basic process of the rebuild and LSD addition is not a huge deal. Adding the front nut socket adds. Setting the pinion depth is important.

I am pretty sure there is a longer version of that quaife vs wavetrac video (or maybe a completely different video). They talk about the fact that the hard suspension and swaybars caused a wheel to lift. That is the advantage of the wavetrac. Definitely not a problem for how I use my car but for racing wavetrac is the definite answer.

I think I am leaning towards the Wavetrac, it's also newer technology. I don't think the average driver on the street is going to notice the difference in all actuality.

If anyone is complaining about clicking or popping on low speed turns its due to the clutch set-up in the LSD. My Viper is set at 70% as most of its days are regular driving. If I am making a full on U-Turn I get very little popping with the clutches arrange at 70% lock. I am running a OSGiken LSD on the Viper. However, when there is clicking and popping in a slow turn, nothing is breaking or getting damaged. You just lose cool points in the parking lot. Those cool point get won back on the track though. Haha.

I've been getting a lot of feedback on the Wavetrac, but nothing on the Quaife. It seems like more people are running Wavetrac, is that a sign for the way to go?

You can't go wrong either way. It is probably more that the wavetrac is cheaper and more readily available on the U.S. than quaife.

Wavetrac is a better design. also cheaper and made in America with direct phone and email support. At some point in the next few months I plan on purchase of a Wavetrac with steel versus carbon engagement plates for a more aggressive engagement. Its a no cost or cost saving option as tech support mentioned the Carbon engagement plate is a costlier part. This would remove the "lifetime" from the no maintenance.

I don’t understand this, why would adding steel engagement plates remove the lifetime warranty for this LSD?
I would think having steel over carbon would be better. As this would be the route, I would take.

I don't care for torsen or helicals so...

for a more aggressive engagement
my 86 had a 2 way TRD Race Clutch style LSD and my SC400 has a Tomei 2 Way Race Clutch style LSD...Torsen and Helical LSD's cannot compare to the aggressive engagement upon throttle on and off of a clutch style LSD. I prefer aggressive engagement.

For those of you interested in purchasing a Quaife ATB LSD. I have contacted Quaife UK, and they provided me with a link to their distributors network here is the US, link below:
https://www.birdsauto.com/content/of...rcedes-dealers

The part # for the Quaife ATB kit (QDF27B) to fit your E63 AMG, as well as the E55.

My Closest distributor is in Philly. And they quoted me approx $1300, and also about the same price +/- to install it. They are a BMW shop, but have worked on Mercedes before.

So I have decided that a Quaife unit is my choice LSD.
