Colder Spark Plugs

Good Morning All . I am going to give the old girl a tune up this weekend . I bought a set of the Weistec Spark plugs . Yea , Yea . I know that was way too much money to spend on a set of spark plugs . Working 6 days a week and only having 1 day to enjoy tinkering with my car I
get a little excited sometimes and click happy on the LapTop . Lol . The Weistec guy told me that their spark plugs were 2 steps colder than stock . I know this is a dumb question but with a mildly modified engine will these plugs effect or cause any problems long term ?? Should I just wait and get a set of the NGK's ?? Thanks for your advice , Much appreciated .

I think 1 step colder would be better if its not too modified.

You always want to keep as much heat in the cylinder as possible....this is thermal energy. Running a colder plug will help with detonation as it will pull more heat out of the plug which is your hot spot so to speak in the cylinder. Better fuel is always the best way to go in the long run.
Be aware that that heat is also what keeps your plugs clean going through there cold/hot cycle.

If you plan to add boost mods, then go 1-2 colder but if just tuning up, then go with stock heat range. Cold plugs do carbon up easier and hwy mpg can drop with colder plugs. Mod-ing is fun, so give the old girl some power and a tune up.

I wouldn't go colder unless you have some serious boost adding mods. Stock heat range should be fine with even 80-83mm pulley.

I suspect rough idle I get intermittently is from 1 step colder plugs even when modded!!

Hell yea brotha ! . Reason I was asking is that She already has some mods . I have a 77mm pulley ready to go . I needed a tune up badly so I went ahead and threw the 2 steps down in the car now so I didn't have to do them again in a couple of months . Thanks for taking the time to reply . Here's another one . Been checking out the long tube header situation . What do you recommend as far as i good product . So many choices . I was looking at the MBH's . Buy I didn't care for the way he's got the Cats accepting the O2 sensors with the extensions built into them like that .
