i would get a rear main seal, new water pump, spark plugs, engine mounts, maybe valve cover gaskets and consider the o-ring in the oil pump if that is truly an issue, good time for headers if your going that route

understood but if you are cutting your losses i would consider selling the car as is you may get someone who wants it...new/used engine may cost you more than you think and if you mess something up or scratch up anything it gets expensive,,, you may get 2k or 3k more after all your parts and time/sweat/blood but is it worth it ? ,,, just sayin ,,, either way good luck

It wonder if it's worth just replacing the oil ring in any higher mileage MK113 motor just for reassurance. The guy in the video may be eating his engine because it's not a daily and he's racing it. On a daily you may get away with a hard o-ring. Just a thought.

OP I understand your frustrated but remember there are lots of M113 motored cars out there with lots of miles... there is even one with over 400k miles.... so they don't all blow up

Your just having a run of bad luck...

ill let you guys know what caused it to fail once i get the engine out, hard to motivate myself, lol.

Going to remove the oil pan on the new motor, change the seal as preventative maintenance, and check the main bearings as well as crank for signs of wear. New thermostat, water pump, radiator fluid, power steering fluid, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, have a new bosch 030 pump chilling on shelf already, anything else you guys can think of that i will need ?

what are the chances of my blower or catalytic converter being damaged,? i have a hole in my block on the crivers side, second before last piston towards fire wall, and the oil pan is cracked towards the rear where the trans bell housing meets. found some sort of pin in the under carriage tray, parts of the ring, bunch of aluminium.

Was your car bone stock or modified before it went?

I haven't removed an M113 before, but I have done other engines. You don't have to remove the front. Drain all fluids. Disconnect intake, exhaust, fuel feed, coolant lines, disconnect wiring loom to trans and engine. I suspect it is easiest to remove the engine and trans together. Undo driveshaft. Take out radiator and disconnect trans lines. Removing it from the top will probably require less things being touched. From the bottom you will need to remove the sub frame and steering rack. Basically remove every connection there is all around the engine until all you have are engine mounts. Supercharger and cats are probably fine. Even if metal made it into the front of the cats, they are probably fine once it is removed.
