'99 and '05 E55 AMG
Check the harness at the trunk hinge point left side. Harness flexes every time trunk opens and closes and wires break.

found the live wire broken off, repaired everything working 100%

Checked harness at bootl lid and found wire broken off. Repaired everything working 100%

That is usually the culprit every time. As these cars age, the wires get stiff and inflexible. Which results in unfortunately broken wires.

Yep and unfortunately soldering the wires at the break will prove to be a temporary fix. A solder joint doesn’t flex like continuous wire.
Its better to replace the length of wire. Placing the solder joints away from articulation and avoiding fatigue from the hinge area.
