Oil pump issue and new oil pressure gauge m113k
it's a only being a few hundred miles and what i seemed to immediately notice is how much smoother the engine seems to run. none of this is based on scientific data. the vehicle just seems to float more. it's like suspension improved because motor just seems smoother. the experience is that vehicle seems to accelerate to high speeds with less effort and, that is probably not real and probably related to sensation of running smoother. maybe? 150 mph feels much less uneventful and seems to arrive unexpectedly. "whoa. we're already at 140". without the 155mph governor -which seems to allow 160mph, engine would probably comfortably allow 170+ mph. it feels like engine isn't working as hard. driving hard feels less strenuous on the engine which seems to motivate me to drive harder. also, acceleration feels more responsive, like less turbo lag. vehicle feels more enjoyable to drive. i seem to have less of this noticeable difference with the g550.
however, the main objective for participating in the experiment seems unchanged. it does not appear that shifting of m157 engine has improved. i'm still hopeful that in time it does improve? according to cali, the ecu is learning and should make adjustments. hopefully. regardless, i intend to keep running 5w50 in all vehicles.
again, absolutely not a scientific testimony. so, don't believe anything that i say.
I have had my engine apart for a freshen up , bearings, pump so on and so forth. Oil pressure still the same, 15 psi at idle 75 when reving hot. Ticks just the same with new oil pump chain as well and modified front cover so the chain will never hit.
I remember when I first bought my car and drove it home. Opened the hood while running and said..."This is a mercedes, my Crown victoria with 230,000 miles is far more quiet than this !!!! LOL
On my last engine build I took a chance and had the gears WPC treated and it was fantastic. The pump was VERY quiet for a long time and it was very strange after all the years of hearing it to not be their.
But then..............I dynoed the car and from that point forward the noise was back, not as loud but back. I have no answer to this whine coming and going with my engine or many many others.
By the way I have installed three different pumps on various engine work and samr thing !!!!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
It’s going to be a while though, we still have a lot to do to the car before we install the engine.
Then after 7-8 months I dyno the car and low and behold the noise got much louder. Then as I drive the car for about a month the noise is cut in half so what could possibly be going on "mechanically" in the engine to make this happen ? And this is coming from me that has had my engine apart 4 times and 3 different oil pumps !! Very strange.

I have heard others in vids that seem really loud. It is weird how the whine changes like you’ve described. The way I see it, if the engine is running great, no knocking, and internals aren’t trying to exit the block, it’s gonna be fine. 😂
If anyone ask me that’s just extra whine from the SC. 😂
Like I said in earlier posts when I had the gears done at the first 700-800 miles it was like driving a whole new car and I was amazed how quiet the engine was.
My car exhaust is also very quiet too so that doesn't help my cause with covering up any noise from the engine. LOL

Views welcome please ? Is there an A-pillar mount for the W204 RHD ?
