Hey guys, so about 2 years ago I replaced my fuel tank under MB extended warranty for this issue, now today I was driving and after I filled $30 in gas and got a half tank the gauge went to 0 and had a - - - in the range indicator. Now I’m reading this is the fuel level sender which seems costly at around 500 dollars + labor and I’m wondering if this is still covered by Benz Bc there unit is new
can anyone please help this car is becoming a chore
it's a 15 year extended warranty from date of purchase or build date . I was a month out and after fighting with MB they wouldnt cover it. needed sender and fuel pump spent $1k and then labor. I am talking to NHTSA to try to get this thing into recall status.

man that sucks, I had my system changed 2 years ago. This fuel sender issue is just now happening so I’m expecting them to take action on their own faulty parts.
Two separate circuits so it would be unusual for both circuits to fail simultaneously in the fuel tank. Check the connector on the fuel sending unit on the driver's side to ensure it is seated correctly and that none of the wires are pinched and shorted to ground or broken. You can also pull the connector and take resistance readings directly off the pins on the top of the cap. Floats are located on both the filter/regulator and the fuel pumps.
Looking at the five-pin connector on top of the filter/regulator on the driver's side, assume pin 1 is closest to the car's centerline and pin five is closest to the passenger door; pin 1 would be common ground, pin 3 is for the float on the passenger-side fuel pumps, pin 4 is for the float on the driver's side filter/regulator.
Photo shows the internal connector for the floats; the only way I can see for a simultaneous failure is for that connector to fall off which would be very unlikely. I think the issue is outside the fuel tank. EDIT: Failure of the ground wire connection common wire to rear SAM (pin 1) would result in a simultaneous failure. Schematic attached. You'll need to verify continuity from the filter/regulator connector to the rear SAM connector 2, pins 4,5, and 6. Fuel level sensors are B4/1 and B4/2.

wow thanks for the write up bro! I pray your right and it’s just a wire issue

How can we all help support you in that endeavor? It's BS that a lot of '03 and '04 MY owners are left out for this glaring safety issue.
