Headers

So I am new to MB and I have an E55 with a VRP exchanger and the coolant split with the bosch 010 pump. I'm in the process of shopping for headers and it seems that most of what I am finding appear to be the same thing. OBX, VRP, Becker, XS power, and Maximizer all look the same but have different prices. So my question is there really any difference than price on these brands and what sites do guys recommend ? I Unfortunately can not afford 3k for a set of headers and from what I have read here on the forum most people prefer the long tubes as appose to the mid lengths. Also as soon as the headers are on I was thinking about 77mm pulley and tune.

try this site...buddy bought a set and worked out fine. Cheapest I’ve seen...I bought same ones on Amazon for $750-800 over a year and it also worked out, been taking her to track and no issue. Install and fit is no issue for me, I DIY on my back. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

I would search out a combination of the cheapest ones combined with the best after sales support if you are looking at that segment of the header market. Some people have no fitment issues, others have problems. Otherwise I suspect all of them are similar in terms of performance and quality.

What are your goals for the car? 83mm or 80mm pulley offers significant performance upgrade already. The smaller pulley, the easier it is to heat soak and the higher chance of pulling timing when constantly on it. The intercooler core is the limiting factor.

The more I research I do it seems that the 80mm will be just fine. Just want a little more performance and the car has 125k on it.

Trust me, headers, any pulley and a tune will be night and day different to a stock car. You will not be disappointed.

Wow! Bummed VRP is running that big of a sale after I bought the last set they had last month at $735.

I installed mine with an extra pair of hands and a lift and have had a hell of a time with little leaks. The problem on these is that the pipes all have 4 slots in then that run from the edge of the opening down the pipe about 1.5in. It’s a small annoyance at this point, but I couldn’t get them to fit in to each other enough to solve the leaks completely and that was after several more times up on the lift.

They make the car sound fantastic and it pulls hard even without a tune (planned in summer) so far, so I’m happy but it’s frustrating to have the small leaks. You get what you pay for!

I installed mine on my back, I used a small jack to lift up and align those pipes to fit perfectly. No leak here.
