Keyless go

2005 E55
So I have already discovered that the pins under the shifter button are broken. Does that have anything to do with the door handles not responding? Or vice versa on the starting?
I know it is a momentary push button switch in the shifter knob. So what I did was stick 2 pieces of wire in the holes on the shifter rod that the button would normally plug in to.
I depress the brake and touch 2 wires together....radio comes on and seats move to memory position, but car doesn't start.
Where should I check next? Not terribly concerned about door locks...but would like car to start and stop.
I do have the button thing that goes into the keyhole..not sure if it's original to car or needs to be synced to key fob? No idea...

The push to start button on the shifter not working won't affect the keyless go handles from working. Not sure why when you touch the wires and have your foot on the brake the car doesn't start. Possibly bad brake switch?

Also I've tried one of those start button that go in the keyhole but haven't had any luck with it working. Not sure if it has to be programmed but I don't think it will work for our cars.

I'm going to check that brake switch bc I also have the "Brakes visit workshop" on the dash. I took it to dealer bc I thought it was SBC. They had car for 2.5 hours and said SBC was fine...
I read on forum about brake switch so that will be next. If anyone has that part number I would appreciate it..ty

Brake switch should be under warranty from the dealer. Entire brake system is under warranty.

follow the wires though the shift stick below where the wires move when the shifter engages,,, one of these probably has a break in it from wear/tear ,, solder the break and reseal the bare wire soldered joint

I've seen that tutorial about those wires breaking. That was the first thing I suspected before I took it apart..but they are not broken.

I am getting a reaction when I touch the wires, so there is no break. Everything does what it should, except car doesn't start..seats move steering wheel moves etc.
And I did step on brake before trying...
