E65? AutoSpies says its coming!

"If you own a Mercedes E55 fan (AWESOME CAR!) and you're reading all the propaganda about how the new BMW M5 will beat the performance numbers of the E55 when it comes out, we have news for you.

Anyone know anything further on this?

WOOHOO!

More power to a chassis that couldn't even handle the 55 version.

WOOHOO!

Another baseless and misinformed post by someone who still is can't grasp their ABCs, much less able to grasp chassis engineering.

The W211 chassis handles the E55 drivetrain quite well. If you want to talk about a chassis incapable of handling a drivetrain, look to your beloved Z8 with the M5 drivetrain... that is an example of a poor combination. Or the M3 Coupe/Roadster with the S54/E46 M3 drivetrain. Those are good examples of chassis that couldn't handle their drivetrains.

Are you freaking serious?? Do you have any idea how well the M Coupe handles?? There's even an Alpina version of the Z4 with the M5 engine. It has on-rails handling.

Oh, and do you remember what Top Gear said regarding the M Coupe?? "A faltless engine matched with a faltless rear-wheel-drive chassis."

Are you sure they're not referring to the new 4 valve V8 that's coming? That makes more sense for the CLS and the E. Doubt you'll see the V12 in these cars.

Presuming you're referring to the original post, I'm not sure of anything.

That's why I posted this here to see what anyone else knew.

Besides the ongoing debate between the M5 and E 55 (perhaps E 65), I have seen nothing in terms of confirmation upon Mercedes' plans to produce the E 65, which was my intention.

I always find E55 (or even E65) vs. M5 arguments hilarious most ppl never grow up :p :p

Just like when I was a kid.... always competed who was the smartest (always acted as if I were the walking encyclopedia).... but when the context tried to relate smartness to geekiness..... the competition became who was the dumbest....

So here we are now..... all adults (I assume ) who can already buy our own cars..... always defending the beloved cars more than beloved wives :p

The competition now is whose is the fastest and most reliable.... but when your friends ask you to carpool w/ your car (especially to somewhere far or dirty) b/c your car is the fastest, most comfortable and most reliable, I'm pretty sure most of you would say otherwise just to get away from it. LOL

Its the result of tetesterone and I have a bit too much of it and can't even spell it. I admit to self-selecting into this behavior. I can't wait to lay the smack down on the first M5 I encounter. And the second and the third.....

And what is your "experience" in high performance car based on?
How many miles "under your belt"???
Nintendo skills and ability to read magazines does not count in my book.

You kidding? Nintendo is so realistic, the Nascar drivers train intensively using Nascar 2004. I suspect Kain has logged the equivalent of 4 Rolex 24 hours of Daytonas behind his steering wheel/pedals setup in his den. This kid has got to be an expert by now!

This Kain kid is the Wile E. Coyote of the MBWorld board.
He keeps getting his @ss kicked around, blown up and abused, but he keeps coming back for more. Over and over again.
I feel sorry for him that he has nothing better to do with his life.

M3 engines blow up?? WTF are you smoking?? That "blow up" crap happened during the early stages of production. Show me ONE M3 engine that blew up after 2002.

cmon now... AFTER 2002? that leaves all 2003 and 2004 m3's. He has a point that a car made by EITHER bmw or mb shouldnt be having those kinds of troubles. Electronic gremlins, ok...but not failure of SMG rear ends and engines. I would say they didnt do enough field testing to be bringing that to marketand charging 60 grand for it.

While htey have fixed the problem, it doesnt make it irrelevant that bmw allowed that to happen. I just hope bmw learned their lesson when testing the v10.

HEY BUDDY!!

GUESS WHAT? YOU DONT OWN A BMW. WHY? YOU CANT AFFORD IT. SO YOU SURE AS HELL CANT AFFORD A MERCEDES.

ONCE AGAIN LOSER, IF BMW IS SUCH A SUPERIOR CAR, WHY DO PEOPLE ACTUALLY PAY MORE FOR A BENZ?

O I FORGOT ITS BECAUSE THEY LAST OVER 10,000 MILES BEFORE AN ENGINE BLOWS.

okay fine thats an exception but still, think about it like this

compression rises in engines over time due to carbon buildup. So an engine pushed to its limits will go kaput later on in its life.

Kain, I have a 98 CLK320 and a 2004 ML350. The 98 CLK has 101K on the engine and its basically perfect besides regular maitenence items.

The truth is I dont care if your precious BMW that you persistently ********** to can lap the nurenberg a few seconds faster. Sh*t i dont care if It does it 10 minutes faster. A benz is a benz and BMW is a BMW. Get it through your head.

You are absolutely right there my brother!

I had the pleasure of owning a CLK320 for a good 3 years and drove it a whopping 100,000 miles and NOT ONE problem.. apart from the usual brake disc and pad replacements.

God I wouldnt blink twice if I ever buy a mercedes! Benz is a benz, and thats why people pay more for them, and the depreciate less... much less!

Whats funny is that I sold a 3.2 litre 2000 model CLK320 with 100K on the clock, and bought a 5.0 litre 1999 M5 with only 29K on the clock without paying a single penny extra!

Doesnt that tell ya something?
