Bakes and rotors E55

I am replacing the brake rotors and pads both the front and the back. I purchased Zimmerman cross drilled rotors from FCP Euro and Akibono pads which I purchased from EEuroparts.

The front cleaned up and went fine, the back pads however didn't. The rear pads are the same minus flaring on the sides. BUT the sensor hole does not line up. Debating whether to drill them or get different ceramic pads for the rear. Like to keep the pads all from the same manufacturer.

No holes in the akibono pads? Why no holes with these brand pads? I just got the same set, but didnt check them.

not sure why. some do some don't. Mercedes pads always do and they are in the correct spot too.

I went with akibono pads because of the dust issue with oem.

I can understand that. They make the rotors last a bit longer and i think they stop a bit better. Both the 05 clk55 and my e55 have way bigger brakes than they need.

My pads had holes they were just not drilled low enough and that was only the rear pads. The front pads were fine.

I took two pads up to my friends machine shop and he drilled the hole a bit lower in the drill press and now the sensor fits fine.

I am wondering if my brake warning workshop light will go out after I replace the rotors and pads? Does the ECU need to be reset?

Glad you got your pad to work out with the new sensors! Did your old brake pad sensor trip to being worn down and making continuity? If so then you should not need an ECU reset. I just did all this myself on the CLS55 and the EBC Yellowstuff pads did have correct hole orientation though the front pads anti-squeal backing plates were to thick and were jamming up on pad install so I took them off and put on CRC anti-squeal gel to the pad backing plate instead.

I think Akebono didn't digged those holes, cause they want you to use a fish head sensors, not pin sensors..!,

you can simply use those fish head, instead of pin head..

The fronts were close and I still have to do the backs so I guess I will find out.

But then why would they drill any holes?

They drilled small holes (as standard size) for most of 99-06 MB models,,

but 55K uses thicker pin, which not fit properly..!!
