Overhead console sensor??

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone can tell me what this sensor is, and what it does? It is a two-wire sensor located in the front mirror trim of the overhead console. My W211 E55 is an Australian model with a panoramic roof option. Cheers

I can't find any info on it. I always assumed it was a Mic for SOS system.

I looked in my car (E63) and I don’t have it. So I would assume that it’s a microphone as mentioned previously.

This place is a joke.
I'm pretty sure that's microphone for the radio volume auto adjustment. If you leave it unplugged it will stop the annoying radio volume fluctuations between driving and stopping.

Ok well, I don't have the SOS function (that picture is pulled from google images)
When I pulled down the overhead console last weekend, I'm not sure if the wires were already broken off from the back of the sensor or if I broke them when removing the assembly. I resoldered them back on before I refitted everything.
I was just wondering what the sensor was for.
The command unit has been replaced with an Android head unit so if it's a microphone for the original command system it won't matter anyway.
Does anyone know where the movement proximity sensors are located??

Movement proximity sensor? No such thing on this car. There may be a towing sensor for the alarm, if the car is lifted at a certain angle the alarm will sound. It can be turned off using the button next to the sos button, if you are parked on a steep incline.

That's a picture of the two buttons on my overhead console, is the right button to disable some sort of interior sensor??
I just checked the owners manual and it references the tow-away alarm button, but has a blank button beside it.

Yep, that button looks like the interior motion sensor on/off switch....not an option on US models, except maybe convertibles. Look at this:

Is that a little camera or motion sensor that pops out? (video isn't very clear for me)
