Retrofit 2006 CLS55
I have a 2006 CLS55 that I am researching distronic to retrofit. Since this car - W219 is based on the E class W211, many 211 parts are used on it. But for the distronic module and its wiring harness the two cars use different parts. I have compared the harnesses as listed for the two cars and they look exactly the same, they connect at the same locations, have the same plug ends and pin arrangements, and the same front SAM is used between the two cars. For the two modules, they physically look the same (I know that is not significant) and the electrical connection is laid out the same. Since there are many more 211 body cars available in salvage yards (I will be sourcing these parts from the used market), I question if there is any way to use the 211 module on the 219. I understand that once the distronic system is install, I will need to activate it by using MB Star/DAS, which I have.

I don't wanna rain on your parade - but as someone with an E55 with distronic, I would suggest saving your money. While it was great when it came out, there are so many new cars around using some sort of radar cruise and lane keep technology that it messes with the old distronic techn. I'm constantly getting an external interference, please re-engage distronic warning. I honestly wish i just had normal cruise control

yeh at first i thought it was just my car but after asking around it seems like most people have the same issue. it is great when it's working but really annoying when it gets switched off 3 times in 10 minutes due to external interference

You should be able to deactivate Distronic using DAS. Then you would have straight up cruise control.
