Need help identifying this engine harness plug in front SAM.

Hello,

I have an intermittent ground on the wire on this plug reaking all sorts of havok. I've had no luck finding a ground anywhere, on any of the engine sensors/etc or finding any info on this plug in STAR . Any input would be much appreciated (my issue is on pin 1 specifically).

From the picture it is not completely shown. All that can be seen is the indentification of B2?. Is there another digit past the number 2? Was there something specific you were wanting or needing to know about that connector?

Sorry, I just re-read your posting - just let me know the full location ID. Thanks.

Yeah, the plug is only labeled B2. No additional information. Specifically Pin 1 on that plug, wondering where that goes on the engine harness, and WIS is kicking my ***.

Thanks!

Here is what I could find. The B2 connector showing pin 1 is on quadrant D45 (page 6).

I'm not sure I am completely following with what you are trying to sort out. If you don't see in the diagram, connector pin 1 goes to the ME engine controller. If you are having a ground issue the ones listed for the ME is W2, W7, W11, and W15/3. Do you have a ground location legend?

The engine side of the wiring harness on that connector is grounded and it's not supposed to be. I'm trying to sort out what pin 1 of that connector goes to on the engine side so I can try to find why it's grounded, maybe pinched when I was bolting the SC on or something I don't know. Probably just need to take the SC back off and inspect the wiring harness but I'd love to know exactly what the wire goes to first so I can look at anything already accessible.

Thanks very much for the assistance though

Based on the diagram I posted the front SAM has at least three(3) 12 volt fused connections that directly feed the engine control module (ECM or ECU). Those are fuses 43 (87ME1,15amp, page 5 right side), 44 (87ME3, 15amp, page 6 left side), and 57 (87ME2, 25amp, page 5 to the left of fuse 43).

Pin 1 in connector B2 is directly connected to fuse 43. It is directly fed to the engine control module. The route that it takes from the SAM to the ECM is not detailed, but that is the wire you need to follow if it is getting shorted to ground. You should be able to follow the color markings on it at connector B2 through the wirng loom. Best of luck.

I got it all squared away thanks. Actually the whole issue started with the ME acting up, then I found the blown fuse 43 and traced what was blowing it back to that pin 1 on B2 going into the wiring harness. The car wouldn't crank with the plug disconnected and threw no codes that led me down the right path, but i was able to pop pin one out of the connector and plug the rest in. It cranked, no start though. That time it popped a crank sensor fault in STAR. Pulled the CPS plug and saw the ground clear on the harness. Found some water had spilled from the heater hose down onto the CPS. Cleaned it out with some sensor spray and compressed air and car is 100

Glad you have it sorted out.
