Hello everyone I have a 2003 CL55 and it has the stock exhaust but it is a little too silent for me coming from a straight piped CL500 anyways I have been reading around to find out whats best to do. My idea was to remove the resonators and in its place put an X pipe or an H pipe, from what I read online one gives you more low end torque and one more higher rpm peak power,

but I also read that both reduce back pressure which lowers the supercharger psi but its a good thing which from what I read means that even with lower psi you make more power. I also saw that one gives it a more American v8 sound and the other one a more exotic v8 sound. Which do you guys think would be best to do? my car is still stock but I will eventually be moving into cooling upgrades then pulley and all that good stuff, I also wanted to ask for which ever one I go for what size x pipe or h pipe do I have to buy so it fits good? I do not know what size the stock exhaust is right before the resonators. If there is a better option for me to do please let me know this is what I had in mind but there could be something else to do.

x pipe or H pipe replacing the resonator wont give you much in return. What my local muffler shop did was to install a magnaflow x-pipe muffler and 2 sebring stainless sillencer with a muffler delete. Sounds great and not extremely loud

The x pipe muffler thing is that first box you see right? at the very bottom? anyways yeah I could go for something like this but removing the resonator and putting an x pipe or h pipe for me there would be really cheap and really the only reason why I am going to the muffler shop is to have the catalytic converter bolts refreshed, and what do you mean by wont give you much in return as in sound or? because if its a little bit louder I am okay with that I will eventually make it into a super loud annoying thing but for now I want to enjoy it a little bit louder but that would still pass as "stock"

I suggest you start with removing resonator and replacing with X-pipe(common). That's an inexpensive way to start. Shouldn't cost more than $200 in the US.

Yes thats what I want to do! its very cheap here but do you know what size the piping is right before the resonator so I can buy the same size x pipe? and do you know a good x pipe for cheap I was just gonna buy one off ebay they all do the same thing but what size? I think it might be 2.5"?

I believe stock is 2.75 inch, kinda odd. The decent exhaust shop should have something that works or they can match up work.
