I picked up a 05 e55 with water damage. Seats dont move, steering wheel won't go up, down, in or out. Engine won't crank. Overhead lights don't work. Some center console functions work. Can someone please look at the dtcs and give me a starting point. Thanks
You certainly picked up a challenge...I like to think I'm fair to middling on working on my E55 but I would never accept the challenge you did.
How deep was the water in the car? The following is based on the assumption that the water was just over the door sills and not in the dash or trunk or engine compartment. Pull passenger-side floorboard and see if you still have water there. Even if it is now dry or you dry it out, expect every module there to be damaged as the main battery is a direct connect to the pre-fuse block under the floor. Every module has to be pulled, opened, and inspected for internal damage (even that is no guarantee as the circuits may be damaged but not visibly burned). Once that is clear, then ensure you have a good main and good auxiliary battery and start working your way down the list of errors.
If the water was deeper, I would expect to replace just about every module on the car. And if the Central Gateway Module is toasted, that will most likely require dealer programming.
Only one time did I get lucky dealing with an R350 that had water under the floorboard. SAM burned out (literally smoke coming out from under the carpet!); found one on Ebay, plugged it in and the damn thing worked.
I knew it would be a challenge. The water did get the floorboards wet but didn't seem to get any higher. I'm gonna start by removing the seats and carpet and will report back with what I find.
I need to at least get it started so If I part it out I can sell the motor. Thanks

Almost the entire body wire harness is under the carpets, and your CAN blocks.
If water has made its way inside the wiring harness, you’ll be chasing electrical gremlins for years. As the wiring will start corroding over time. Hate to say it, but you might need a new wiring harness.
