Cls 55 motor mounts
Trying to replace the motor mounts on my cls 55 without much success. I've lowered the steering rack but I can't move it enough to get the mounts in or out on the driver side.
Is it possible to move the swaybar if end links are removed?
I've also moved the AC compressor without success.

On my 55 i had to drop the steering rack, loosen my headers, and loosen the ac compressor to get the driver side out. Not sure how much different the CLS and don't know about the suspension sorry.

Thanks, looks like I have to drop the exhaust. Was hoping to avoid that
Cls is same/similar to the E. But just lowering the rack doesn't seem to work. When people lower the rack to get the mounts out, do they disconnect the joint?

Is it ok to disconnect the joint from the steering rack to steering shaft without making a mess? That would allow me to lower the rack enough.

Tried jacking it up several cm, can't the the mount through between the swaybar and rack since the rack doesn't lower enough. If I disconnect the shaft I could lower it enough. Seems to be safe to do so from what I can read?

I've done it a bunch. One 13mm (?) bolt and the square piece from the steering column will slide up out of the piece that goes to the rack, you can pivot the rack piece down and out of the way.

Disconnecting the steering shaft was great success. Driverside was super easy after that.
It might be possible to get the mount out on the cls as well without disconnecting the shaft but you would have to lift the engine a lot higher than I did.
