Those that take their E55's to the track might find it interesting.

saw it last week. IMO not a very good race
For the first half, I thought it was an NSX commercial. The last three cars were too far behind. And the CSL beat the 911 turbo and was on par in straight line acceleration with the 360?
love those straight line acceleration of those Lambos though

Conserning this video. the 996 Turbo was an automatic and that makes the Porsche quite a bit slower. I would expect the 996 to be faster or at least equally fast as the 2 Lambos on a racetrack. The NSX-R is much faster than most guys give it credit for, but NOT faster than any of the cars involved in this race. The CSL is NOT as fast as the 996 T in straigh line, almost as fast as the 360 BUT definatly as fast as both of the in the twisties, probably faster.
I also have a feeling after whatching the video that the NSX driver got the lead a little to easy for it to have been realistic.
Anyway it was fun to whatch

It also happens to be the same tranny we enjoy in our E55's.
You sure about that? I must admit I have not seen any track times comparing the 2 so that was based on "common sence".
You may be right but that is very suprising, to put it mildly....
The thing I am sure of is that the 996T manuel is faster in straight line.
Anyway the car is fast regardless of type of gearbox

NSX's are very slow when compared to that company. Having owned one after my 911 TT I found it rather disappointing speed wise but it still handled like a go-cart. When the NSX came out in the early 90's it was a monster but after a decade of very little change, many every day cars can out run it in a straight line.

911 Tubro Tip is 0.6 slower to 62 then 6 speed stick...
I dont think that tiptronic would be faster on track...With a driver who can handle the stick ...

The NSX is definatly NOT my kind of car, but its quite capable considering the tiny engine. Totaly overpriced also IMO...
Just for fun, here is a link where it can be compared to the fantastic CLK DTM monster of AMG.
Even if it is totaly destroyed in straight line it puts up a good fight on both the "ring" and on Hockenheim. Also note that the DTM car is on special R- tires where the NSX use "normal" tires.

I have to agree with M5 rus with this, I cant understand why a auto 996T should be faster on a track when it is definatly slower in any straigh line exercise ( quite a lot to accoring to tests in Europe), at least in the hand of a competent driver....

Hey my first post my names Hunter I'm 20 years old , just bought my first car a 2004 e55 AMG , I'm hoping I can make many friends on here who can help me learn all about my vehicle , I will be actively on here as I finally get to put in work I have a passion for vehicles but never had the chance to own one or work on one so this is the start of it all for me , I'm a quick learner , see things from all angles & I observe . So I'm very excited to learn from everyone here so I can use that knowledge and pass it on to others who wish to learn , thanks ! , please reply I will be posting once a day with all the specs of my new vehicle and things I want to address and how you guys can help me fix or service myself or guide me in the right direction to professionals , THANKS !
Welcome. As a quick learner and one who observes from all angles you should probably of clicked "new thread" rather than post in one that is 11 years old.
Also, a high performance German sedan probably wasn't the best car to learn on.
You are welcome for the reply.
