He told me that it wouldn't work because of the SBC system. The manual W211's in Europe weren't equipped with it. I guess the space underneath didn't work with however it's connected.

I figured something like that had to do with it. Thanks for clearing that up.

Honestly I'm looking into doing a manual conversion in my w202 C43 with an n/a E55 swap. It's not a w211 or an m113k, but with proper suspension it's so lightweight that it makes WAY more sense as a manual car.

Awesome project, I imagine it would be a blast to drive, impossible to stall. I think I would prefer to keep the manual in a sports car though.

In his first car, the O-ring was not just hard. A chunk of it had broken off and been sucked through the oil pump. With the second engine, he actually demonstrated that the hardened O-ring was not sealing properly, and was allowing air bubbles into the oil flow. Then he demonstrated that replacing the original o-ring with a new one corrected the issue.

Methinks you went into this with preconceived notions, and didn't bother actually paying attention to the videos, if you even watched them at all.

Several folks in the video comments mentioned that there were in fact Euro cars with both SBC and a manual transmission. It's possible that there might be a workaround coming in the future that is a bit more clean.
