E55 or CLK55 ???
If you could have a 2001 E55 AMG or a 2001 CLK55 AMG with the same miles, in the same condition for the same price, which would you choose and why?
That's the decision I'm trying to make, and here's your chance to get your two cents in.
Thanks in advance for your opinion.

I had to make the same choice. I got the clk because of the great styling and in case of an emergency, there was enough room for the dogs in the back seat.
even I am a AMG newbie , that 's a very very easy question to answer
it is always 'danger' to handle E55 's 467 hp unless in hands of very experienced driver. So as the HK racer SC Kwan ' review said so.
If you were an experienced racing driver, you would not have asked the question. So this means you have to choose the CLK55 to start practice and one day , your skills are good enough to handle ~500hp machine

As apkirby probably knows, the '01 E55 and '01 CLK55 have the same engine and virtually same output (though the CLK is faster due to its lighter weight).
I bought an '01 CLK55 when they first came out. It was a really fun car, much more lithe and active than the E55, and much prettier (IMO). The E55 was the better highway/commuting car to be sure. Better ride and road manners, and some of the interior touches were higher quality in the E55.
So if you are prioritizing looks and fun factor, buy the CLK55.
If you will be doing major commuting, need family space, buy the E55.

Tough choice. I was at a local dealer yesterday on my day off, just checking out what they have in the showroom. Had hardtop and cabrio versions of the CLK and I was again amazed at what a beautiful car it is and how the seats are what the E55 SHOULD have gotten. The CLK.

1. Any one ever owned a reasonably new E e.g. my sold full options W210 320 Advantgarde can tell you right away E is a E , C is a C ; CLK is a C . Leave the engine power aside, with today's MB technology, there is no way a C class can beat a E class in almost all aspects. Just take a look at the new technology options that a E can offer.
2. Assume the new E55 is not an S/C but a N/A 362 hp AMG engine like the CLK55 , with a little price difference, then I will not have a second thought and will get the E.
