19's or 20's??????????

Just visited Goodroads in Ft. Lauderdale. Man what a showroom! After about two hours, narrowed down my choices to Maya RT5 (front-runner) or Maya
STM or the DTS, all in the machined graphite finish, or Lorinser LM5's.

Would anyone care to comment on the ride with 20's vs. 19's?

I have an E46 M3 cab with 18's now and wifey doesn't care much for the ride. I can live with more complaints if the ride on the 20's with the airmatic suspension is similar to my M3, but not if it would be worse.

Dude at Goodroads says 20's is no problem on the E class. He told me one day they had FOUR E55's in the bay at the same getting rims!!!!!!!!
He told me that they sell 40-50 sets of rims PER DAY!!!!!!!!!

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks fellas,
Eagleeye

Depends on how much you want to spend? I say go 19's but some like 20's. I got 19's on my W210 and the combo of H&R Sport Springs is pretty good. I think it drives smooth as hell but you'll feel that the car is lowered. With 20's you might have to roll your fenders. I had to do mine in the fronts and I got 8.5's in the front with 245/35/19 Dunlop SP9000's. Check out wheelexperts.com, he's got some wheels for your car.

Definately 19s. 20s leave very little profile to absorb any bumps and do nto provide enough flex to improve handling dynamics. If you are just going for the bling factor, 20s may be best, but otherwise, I woudl stick with 19s.

Here is a pic of the RT5 for those not familiar. They look even better in person. The sides of the spokes are painted graphite which I think will go great with obsidian black

I went through the same dillema. I decided on 19's after having a talk with Peter from Wheel Experts. Better ride, still look great, and less chance of a bent wheel from the ultra low sidewall that the 20's have.

My wheel of choice? HRE 840's. Brushed centers with the polished lips. 19x9's in the front and 19x10's in the rear.

I got the 19 inch STM's on mine back in March. The 20's look great but there will be a performance loss due to increased diameter and inertia. My wheels weighed in at 24lbs in the front and 26 lbs in the rear so any performance loss is negligible.

19 will offer more ride quality where 20inch will be more looks than anything. I have sold more 20 inch fitments over 19inch. RT5 20x90/20x10 with the correct size tire is 245-30-20/285-25-20

Quick question. I put Lowenhart BS5s on my '04 E55 about 4 months ago and the tires have recently began to blow out. It all starts from the inside wall of the tires. I have experienced 3 different blowouts in 3 weeks. I just had the stock wheels put back on until I can get some kind of resolution. My guess is that the offset is incorrect. Any suggestions?

You are right!!. I am using MAYA STM 20X9 and 20X10 using Pzero Nero 245X30 and 285X25. I want something like ET36 frontand ET32 for rear, but the wheel came as ET38 front and ET35 rear. The front looks ok, but the rear wheel seems extend out the fender a little. Maybe after I lower the rear the problem should be correct. The ride is not too bad and the lips are great!!

the 19 to 20 jump is from race to bling.. personally,i wouldnt get 20s on this car, makes it look cheep, and ride will quickly deteriorate.

Well....

I have ppl using the 19" and ride feeling is about the same as 20's. I like the look on 20's, but just the low profile tires made me worry...

I am at Yorba Linda this Sunday. Feels free to take a look. Or I will post pics next week after the lowering is done.
