Front Stabilizer Bar
Does anyone have and pics or step by step instructions on how to remove the front sway bar on a w211 E63. I believe my bushings are bad. I haven't been able to find any good details on how difficult it is to get to the mounts. It seems that there's a couple of companies that sell bushings even though Mercedes designed it where you have to replace the entire sway bar. Crazy.
Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Workshop Information System. It's out there. Check EBay for bootlegged copies if that is the way you want to go. Alternatively, you can obtain 24-hour access to the MB-hosted servers for a significant fee.

Got it. Thanks. I was hoping someone on here has either a video or photos or has done it and can tell me how they did it. Someone told me that you have to drop the subframe to access the mounts for the sway bar. That seems hard to believe. Hopefully someone will reply with a few pointers or photos on how to access the mounts. I actually purchased the shop manual online (virtual) but I'm finding it really difficult to navigate the Virtualbox to find things.

Just curious if anyone has any insight to how to get to the front sway bar bushings. A mechanic mentioned that you have to lower the subframe which seems a little extreme.
Greatly appreciate any feedback

Yes I did, but I had trouble seeing all the bolts that hold each bracket on. From what I can see one bolt needs to be accessed from the top unless I'm just not seeing it correctly. It's tight in that area. Looking for some guidance before I get too deep into it.

My mechanic ordered the sway bar bushing for me but I did not have it replaced. I sold my car. The noise came and gone. I spayed the bushing with WURTH and the noise has gone. Mechanic said the engine needs to be lifted up, subframe needs to be dropped in order to get to the sway bar. My sway bar looked solid, just need new bushings. You can check it out underneath. I still have the the bushing in unopen bag.

Hey DustinN. Thanks for chiming in. So you're mechanic said the engine needs to be raised and the subframe dropped just to change bushings? That's what I was afraid of.
I tried spraying mine with silicone as recommended by others but no real change.
What's WURTH?
Sadly, I haven't been able to figure out yet what's making the noise. The indications are sway bar bushings and one mechanic suggested that. Kind of frustrating trying to figure it out without replacing everything.

Yes, that's something need to be done at the shop. The labor is expensive, I don't remember exactly how much, I think around $500. New sway bar around $170 include the bushings, the bushing is around $20. Here is the the photo of the spray I have mentioned.

Thanks everyone. I was afraid that replacing the bushings was a bigger job than I had hoped. In many cars it's easy. I guess with this car it's in a tough spot that needs major work to get to them. I still want to get the car up in the air again, pull the belly pans off and check again.

DustinN, when you sprayed your sway bar bushings, did you take the cap off the bushing or did you just spray the heck out of it with the bushing brackets in place on the car? In other words, did you take it apart to spray the bushings?
I took a good look last night. The passenger side doesn't look too bad but the driver's side is really difficult to see and may be pretty tough to get to the mounting bracket. That might be why people say you have to raise the motor and lower the subframe??

No, I didn't remove anything, just sprayed to the bushings. Try to aim directly to the bushing as much as you could. You may need to spray a second time after a couple weeks. The noise never came back.
