E63 - Code 0189 Mechanical Throttle Valve Actuator fault

Coming up w no info on this code.

My car's been sitting for a while and took it on a spirited drive after the motor came up to temp. After getting gas my engine light came on, she drove fine to get home.

Just started it up and received the following code; 0189. Not much info on the net.

M16/3 (Front throttle valve actuator) Mechanical Fault.

Also a fuel pressure related issue that's come and gone. Going to do new injectors this spring. Wish I did them when I had the intake rebuilt.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just giving an update here, as I like to keep people informed in case they start having these issues.

With the Throttle Bodies being built inside the manifolds, and having had my Intake rebuilt by the good folks down at RMT I have called them re: their warranty service and potentially getting them to re-service my intake manifold to see what/where the issue is.

Will be back with updates, thus far they've been a great help especially with my original rebuild.

Not to leave this hanging. Just got my Intake Manifold back from warranty service, their tech said there was an issue with the TB gasket, so they replaced it.

Just got the manifold back (quick one week turn around).

Also ordered new intake gaskets, a new crankcase breather valve, (replaced this just a year ago, but figured I'd do it again since it's not accessible without taking the intake off), new aluminum intake bolts, new Bosh injectors, and liqui moly fuel system cleaner.

Grabbed all of the above from FCP Euro, so I will have the lifetime warranty.

Hoping this gets my car back on the road so I can put my G55 to rest for a while.

All done and installed.

Let the motor run for 15min then it started idling oddly.

Got the scanner out, and had a ton of codes pop up including ESP inoperative.

Went through cleared the codes, restart, run for 10min, fewer codes.

Repeated the above, put it in drive then neutral no codes no ESP light.

Got it up to temp and gave it some revs. Going to take it for a cruise tomorrow to put some miles under her belt, hoping its all due to the car sitting for almost a month.

Quick blip, bit of smoke but it's 40 degrees by the lake where Im at.:

Thanks bud, after letting it run a bit longer still getting a mechanical fault in the front Throttle Body, since this is a second car, I'm going to step back from this to focus on a few other projects.

Looks like a new / gently used TB is in my future. I'll report back once I take it on.

Wanted to close this out.

Got a really good deal on a CL63 throttle body and decided to open up the intake myself, which all-in-all was pretty straight forward.

I had the internals replaced w metal components by RMT. Both of the TB's looked great, but the one that was throwing a mechanical error was oxidized, while the other one was mint inside and out.

Swapped the new one in, cleared the codes took it for a rip and the car is better than ever.
