Low 1/4 MPH
What do you guys think of this?
I ran my car tonight at Route 66 in Joliet IL. I ran a 12.79 but only at 108 MPH. The MPH seems low. Any ideas? Or am I just expecting too much. The temperature was about 75 and it was a little humid.

sfkarp,
You in the Chicago area?
What was your 60' time?
Can you post all the details of your run from the timeslip?
Are you sure you didn't hit the brakes too soon?
Drop me an email sometime, I'd like to meet up with some local E55'ers

I mistakenly hit the brakes early on one of my runs (long story) but judging from my 1/8th mile mph I would have trapped 113-114mph. Hitting the brakes I did 111mph. I've only had 1 run.

My 60 ft time was 1.88. I stayed in it well past the MPH trap, as the other time I ran it, the MPH was low also. I seem to remember something about the inter cooler pumps sometimes not working and causing low MPH because the computer starts pulling timing as the car heats up. Any body know how to check the IC system out? The dealer is probably clueless.

sfkarp,
That ET seems a bit low for that trap and that 60'. Are you sure that the timing equipment wasn't off at the track? It's happened before. You may want to give Joliet a call just to verify.
The pump you are talking about is the one for the intercooling system, if it fails you will dramatic heatsoak, reduced timing, and reduced power. Stephens made a post on it.
Where abouts in IL are you?

Hi Marcus:
I live in Plainfield, about 20 minutes from the track. The Route 66 facility is really world class. I don't think there is any problem with their equipment. The traction was excellent, I was able to run with the traction control off. I am thinking that my car does well in the first half of the 1/4 but falls off top end due to a possible faulty intercooler. I'll have to figure out how to have the dealer check this out without telling them I was at the strip.

sfkarp,
I've raced at route 66, and believe it or not their equipment may be world class but don't be surprised if it reads wrong one day. You may want to just be safe than be sorry, call them and see if they had any reports with their equipment that day.
If you want to tell the dealership, just tell them your car feels like it's down on power.
You ever come up to the Schaumburg area?
Good luck.

Check out your charge pressure temperature sensor. If it's reading greater than 70C degrees. To read temperatures have your dealer test on the DAS in MESFI-Actual Values-Individual Values-Select Charge Pressure Temp. This will give you real time, have them do three street runs & then recheck temp which will show correct temperature. (As in your thread it's correct many dealers won't have a clue)
It could possibly have a faulty coolant circulation pump which is location near the drivers side fog light assembly.
However being 1/4 mile runs charge pressure temps will increase, as a result backing off the charge pressure & causing slow recovery. This is due to the cooling system & the low pressure supercharge cooling circuit running through the same cooling circuit.
I have designed the cooling system prototype which has been fitted & tested, we were seeing temperations peak at 45C degrees & quick recovery down to 17C degrees.
