Seriously considering an 04 E55 AMG…
Will be selling my 2007 E550 in a few months to buy a E55. Preferably an 05 or 06, however the ones I was looking at sold. Only one left in my area is an 04. And it’s black which is the color I prefer, and is the color of my E550. Question is, do the 04s suffer from the radiator leaking coolant into the transmission? And any other problems compared to the 05 and 06 models? My 2003 E500 was a tank and never broke a sweat with over 200k miles until I stupidly wrecked it. This E55 has 113k miles on it, and the seller claims the 120k mile service was just done. They are asking $19k. E55 values have gone through the roof in my area during the last year so the time for me to buy one is now.

Price seems way too high but maybe normal in your area when including the recent.....events.
They steadily improved various things on these cars over the years but as I just bought an 04 last year I would not dissuade someone from this model year. No radiator issues to worry about as that was 03 only. Mine even has the newer 580 supercharger but I believe it was replaced somewhere along the way so that could be why. Two other differences off the top of my head are a slightly quicker steering ratio on the 05-06 but some folks say it is slow either way so don't let that decide anything. The later cars (06 only?) got a better fuel pump relay/harness situation. Again I wouldn't avoid a car over that. There are probably many other differences but not sure any of them amount to anything. Some folks on here with 05s and 06s may tell you they would never buy an early one while the folks with 03s and 04s will tell you there is nothing wrong with them. I would buy on price, condition and mileage, like with any used car. And as I said that price seems way too high. That's like twice what I paid for mine a year ago and mine had 130k so not terribly higher.
