Throwing supercharger belt with BWK

Hi all, need some help please. I have thrown and tore up 2 supercharger belts after UPD 5 pc pulley and BWK install with UPD 83mm clutched pulley. I am using the K080530 belt that came in the BWK and from what I have researched is the correct size belt for the BWK and 83mm pulley. I launched the first after a hard high rpm gear change from 2 to 3 (have Zerocat101 TCU tune so gear changes are quick) so I installed a K080530HD green belt today and drove it lightly (had wife in the car) and still tossed it. It looks like pulley alignment due edge wear. From looking though all pulleys look to be in line and not loose or wobbly. I torqued everything to spec and used Blue 272 loctite.

ANY ideas?

Initial install

Tossed first belt and shredded it

Install new green HD belt

Shredded green belt

Peeling at BWK tensioner pulley. I have spacer that fits into bore of bearing on the backside (engine) and spacer that rides on face is bearing on front (towards fan)

BWK tensioner pulley back

Only two things can throw belts.

Pulley alignment

Tension

So true. The slightest pitch of a pulley will force the belt to bias to one side and under load ....the games begin !

I'll be honest with you OP ... those Gates belts are not very good. They're supposed to be, but in my experience you're better off with the Conitech. Made in Mexico may be your real problem.

Hello all thanks for the replies, after thinking of the install of the BWK the support bracket I have circled below may not have been sitting flush to the timing cover due to some oxidation on the boss that the support bracket fits over. I had to tap it on with a hammer but if it is not sitting flush this would cause the BWK pulley to be angled. I will have to take it apart and clean up the boss and see what happens.

It is not your belts. Clean up the boss, make sure nothing is touching the belt anywhere, make sure after the car has been started that the belt is NOT walking to one side. In the picture above the belt looks to be right where it needs to be and should stay "centered on the pulleys.
On picture 6 of original post you can clearly see that the belt was biased to the side of it while running. That why the edge is beat up.

Thank you everyone, the mounting boss was the only hiccup in the whole install and the only thing I can think of that would cause the pulley askewity. The belt peeled right at the BWK pulley too so all the more pointing to that pulley being misaligned. Thanks again! Will report back when I get it all done.

So I took the BWK off and since I still had the fan in this time I opened up the mounting bracket hole that goes over the timing cover boss so the bracket will sit flush to the timing cover now. Hard to get a Dremel in at the the engine. Reinstalled with a new Green HD belt and so far so good. I took the car for a short test drive with some hard pulls and the belt is not tracking off. Doing this with the fan on really made wish for hex head bolts not cap screws that way I could get a open gear wrench on the long dual idler pulley bolt since clearance to the fan is so tight.

I changed my bolts out. Next time you have it out take it to a hardware store and get hex cap equivalent.. It's so worth it!
