Front License Plate Removal?

Does anybody know if its possible to remove the front license plate mount on a W211? Im scared that if I take it off there are going to be two holes left in my bumper where the mount was drilled in. Any help anybody?

I hate to break it to you, there will be holes. My car was delivered with the factory supplied bracket installed and when I removed it, to my extreme displeasure, there were not two, but 4 holes... F'ing dealer. Sucks, but what can you do?

Here was my solution to the same problem.

You can even put the plate back on, and then take it off again as needed.

Yep, I also have four WHITE ****ing holes on my BLACK car. I had to paint it with the touch-up paint, and use that clay stuff to fill the holes.

Go to www.bumperplugs.com. I was lucky and told the dealer not to install the front plate. I used this company for my 01 996 TT and it is simple and hides the hole.

Too big to fit the tiny MB holes. The Porsche holes are much bigger and due to that the BumperPlug plugs head is the size of a damn nickel.

Thanks. I just used the matching MB paint and clearcoat. I also used a little primer on the plastic plugs first. Before I bored the holes, I tested the diameter drill I needed on a block of wood for the correct "press-fit" size. Then they just slide in an out without any need for an adhesive.

If you're in the DC metro area, be careful. The DC cops will write you a ticket for failing to have a front plate.... they are very revenue-oriented.

I drove in Virginia for 10 years without any incidence at all - first time in dc parking on the street resulted in a ticket. They look for it -
