I searched Mercedes E55 on BAT. It’s interesting to see what has been sold over the pass year or so. Several with low miles and prices seem up. Which is good!
I like having a modded E but it’s nice to see that there’s stock ones still around with low miles.
FWIW, I bought my 2006 w 37K miles in Oct 2020, same color as the BaT one and most major options except pano for $30K even. Worth every penny for a well taken care of car, serviced and babied. I'm all about paying a slight premium for a mint example (of any car). The interior still smells brand new in my car. Everyone loves the V8 blown AMG cars, one of the best motors/machines AMG has made to date (that's why I'm on my third one haha, and NOT selling this time).
Low mileage, rare examples w good options are definitely creeping up in price... I had someone offer me $38K in the spring for mine. I bet they will only go up from here.
Heck, even other makes. Look at the older BMW M cars. 2000-2003 M5s are going for $60/$70+ for clean examples and are becoming very rare. Cars nowadays are too prissy for me. Too much comfort. The rawness factor, the driver experience factor, has to be there for me and unfortunately, most cars have fallen flat in the last decade. That's why I don't pick up the newer cars, just not for me. Fast, sure, but doesn't offer the same experience - to me, anyway. Manufacturers are starting to bring that rawness/driver feel back, trying at least..........
I finally took the plunge and got an 06 with only 64k miles... unreal how clean the body is and interior. The only thing that lets it down are foggy headlights, a lot of robber/trim rot, and the pathetic infotainment system. I already took care of the headlights and not in a grail-sequel quest to get apple car play added..
Already replaced the belts, rotting right/left mirror gaskets and windshield cowl..

I finally took the plunge and got an 06 with only 64k miles... unreal how clean the body is and interior. The only thing that lets it down are foggy headlights, a lot of robber/trim rot, and the pathetic infotainment system. I already took care of the headlights and not in a grail-sequel quest to get apple car play added..
The headlights probably won't clean up as well as other cars. At least mine didn't when I had a pro car detailer work on them. He worked wonders on my other car's headlights.
The old infotainment system sucks, but maybe it's part of the charm of these cars. It's basically a stereo with a CD changer. To me, all of the Android head units don't seem to be worth the swap. You may have an AUX port in the glove box, which helps. You could setup a BT to AUX solution. But, you'll have to keep switching the phone off of the BT-AUX receiver and on to the built in BT-phone when you make/receive calls. There really isn't a super-clean, go-to way to do it.

I have done the Android swap in my 06 E55. While it has one or two quirks, it was well worth the time and money. Having Car Play/Android Auto as well as proper Bluetooth makes the car much more useful/modern in my opinion. I have learned quite a bit during my research and installation. They have recently come up with a nicer version since I did my install. I picked one that looked like an OEM-ish unit. It still has the buttons and dials similar to the original. When powered off it looks like a stock head unit. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

Wow. 64k miles! Great find! Start a thread of your new ride and post up pics and your progress on it. It’s a good way to keep up with all the improvements and have some good interactions.
Headlights are easy for a good collision shop to refinish for you.

No most phones will manage a simultaneous connection to the car BT for calls only and a music connection to another BT receiver for music. That's what I do in mine.
Headlights are easy for a good collision shop to refinish for you.
I have polished mine twice and I am convinced that the remaining haze is actually on the inside of the lens. Don't know why or how but no matter what I do to the outside, it only cleans up to a certain point. It is just this side of tolerable so I am ignoring. Don't feel like baking my lenses. It's not a show car I just want the best headlight performance (low beams suck) and the car not to look like it has 200k on it. Looks fine but I wish I could get them "perfect." It will need new lenses for that unless I can somehow polish the inside of mine...

Yeah, my iPhone can connect to both the car for phone and BT aux receiver for music (that is spec'd for calls and music). But, occasionally when I get a phone call, it wants to route the call to the BT aux receiver. So, for the first few seconds, the person on the other end of the call can't hear me until I switch the BT device on my phone from the aux receiver to the car. Small gripe, but a gripe nonetheless.
Inspired by this thread, I did some research and I just learned of a BT receiver that is spec'd for music only, no phone. I ordered it and it should arrive tomorrow. Basically, it'll never tell my iPhone that it can handle phone calls. I'm working on a solution that'll stay out of sight. I don't want my ashtray open all of the time.
I ordered the TUNAI Firefly (not the "Firefly Chat"). The non-"Chat" version is music only. The "Chat" version is music and calls.

I have never had it try to take a call after I told my phone the connection is for music only.
Coincidentally, I have one of these in my home serving my vintage Sansui AU-717 receiver. And I agree that it works great. The range is outstanding. But, it's the size of a hamburger. The one that I mention above is the size of a USB thumb drive and my plan is to have the entire setup live inside of my ashtray. We'll see how it goes. My car is in for a suspension refresh and other stuff so I can't test it yet.

Think I've got the same headunit as you, waiting to be fitted. Paid extra for the Digital Radio and harmon kardon fibre optic connection.

I spoke to the owner of the very low mileage black E55 when I was still searching for my third 06 E55. His was the first I wanted to send deposit for, but had to do my due diligence buying a car basically sight unseen for now. He seemed like a standup guy at first, but I then realized he had no clue what he was talking about and just thought the low miles would sell it. I asked about the oil change intervals, when it had been done due to low miles and the car now being 16+ years old, I was skeptical about how many times, if any, the oil was changed, or had the oil become mud in the engine? A simple enough request. Oil change maintenance. Then the stories and lies started building up and when you say so many lies that you can’t remember all your lies from the start, you become the schmuck.
Back then over year and half or so ago, he had it listed for $59K on Hemmings and also told me he’d throw an extra set of AMG 19” wheels for ‘free’.
