E55 AMG LONG TUBE HEADERS SHOP TIME
Hey Guys, just got quoted 5.3 Hours of Labor to remove and fit Long Tube Headers on my E55 AMG. This seems a little high to me. Thoughts?

I'm not too sure on exact hours, but I have heard that it's a B.... to get the long tube headers in so im not too surprised. Have to tried another shop to get a quote from other shops? It could be the mercedes tax lol

Perfectly fair for a shop to charge a days labour for a header install on euros like these imo.
Are the headers weld in? That also makes a huge difference.
Also depends on the headers some are harder than others depending on how complex they are.
5.3hrs is actually a steal.

These cars aren't like American muscle cars where you can take header bolts off with a beer in one hand while chatting with a buddy. It is a lot more work. I am surprised they quoted 5 hrs, most shops quote 7-8 hrs- reputable, quality shops anyway.

I installed my headers myself and it was a pain. 5h is more than reasonable. Make sure to get your engine mounts changed while at it, since it's hardly any extra work, when the headers are out.
