What do you all recommend having for an emergency kit?
I currently have: Fix-a-Flat, a power compressor that can run off of the interior adapter, jumper cables, and some tools. Considering getting one of the self-jumper boxes you can keep in the trunk. Main thought is that while being able to change a flat or get a jump from someone is nice, it's probably best to be able to get at least a few miles down the road if you're in the middle of nowhere, not be stuck on the side of the highway changing a flat, etc., if possible.
Any recommendations for self-sufficient emergency must-haves?

Thanks for all the replies! I did forget to mention I have a code reader and a first aid kit as well, and USAA so getting roadside assistance shouldn't be an issue if it comes to that. Probably should add a blanket year round as you never know when a colder evening might come. I do keep a pair of snowboarding pants and a jacket in the trunk during winter, which are good to temps around 0 F without much issue.
Looks like some emergency water, food, and the self-jumper are probably the best additions.

I forgot to mention I have a new crank position sensor in the glove box and a fuel pump fuse. You can't prepare for everything but at least if you are a long way from genuine parts these are an easy fix for somewhat common issues.

I have a Tire Rack Roadside Assistance kit, that contains every thing one would need for an emergency situation. It even comes with a poncho.
But, I do agree that you should also have a powered jumper pack, and not depend on jumper cables, or someone's generosity to help you.
Oh, and don't forget that you all have Mercedes-Benz Road Side Assistance forever, as long as you drive a Mercedes.
