How bad is my transmission?

CLS55 currently 113k miles, atf changed at 60k and 99k miles, 13 pin plug and filter changed every time. I noticed my trans would slip and sometimes go out of gear and lead me to limp home mode, codes P0730 in the ecu and P2500 in tcu pop up. Changed conductor plate, filter, atf and p2500 and p0730 still come up and trans still slip. I noticed on icarsoft my y3/6y2 solenoid pressure was always extremely high 9000 mbar

My next steps are to replace the overlaps valves with the master sonnax kit, conductor plate, and all 6 of the solenoids. Is it worth doing or just take it to the transmission shop to rebuild the trans? I been using mv approved 236.14 fluid and I clean the tcu, there was no oil.

the car revs and get louder but the speed stays the same like it forget what gear it wants to be in

Yup....those are aluminum and that's why they are not sticking to the magnet. Looks like it's on it's way out for sure.

What are the next steps? Find someone to rebuild the trans? Should I go to a mercedes indie shop or a shop that is atra certified and only focuses on transmission?

I'd find a used unit, despite yours having issues they are statistically pretty darn solid. Not sure where you're located but I occasionally see similar mileage transmission for under $1k on craigslist etc from time to time.

"Best" solution is a new/reman unit from Mercedes if they still have them, second best would be to rebuild yours at a shop familiar with these units, both options likely over $3k. You could get a rare fluke of a used one, install a second, and still be ahead at that point, just get fresh fluid, conductor plate, connector etc and toss it in. My $0.02, however I have a lift in my garage so a labor-intensive decision is a little different haha.

Just please run far and clear of any rebuilt transmission that are not Mercedes or using Merc parts (Jasper etc), we saw a lot of really terrible rebuild work over the years when I was working in a shop. Works fine for a minivan, not so much for a luxury powerhouse.

Thank you everyone for the answers, sucks this happen to my trans even though it was service mutiple times in its life, I bought the cls55 cause it was reliable due to the engine and trans. Would you recommend a mercedes indie or a place that deals strictly in transmissions. I’m located in Phoenix AZ

I would rebuild your own one. Find a transmission rebuilder who knows MB transmissions. I believe there are even a few guys in the E55 subforum here. Specify all the parts you want them to use, I am sure someone here can make recommendations but whatever the genuine brands are would be a good start. On my last AMG, the dealer just took out the transmission and then sent it to the local rebuilder.

I would take it to a good transmission shop that works on Mercedes 722.6 transmissions. Get them to diagnose whether your tranny can be repaired or a new/reman tranny is required. Typically it's cheaper to rebuild or repair then to buy a new one.

I’m going to get a full rebuild on the transmission. Anything else to replace while the trans is out? Like the rear main seal

Definitely rear main seal and the plate that holds it. Might be a good opportunity to change the engine and trans mounts, maybe flex plates and installing long tube headers would be easier if you were thinking of going that way.

Don't buy a used tranny. My transmission was toasted about 1.5 year ago and one shop changed a used one but still fail and slip.
Then last year I rebuild and now shift good and strong. You dont know the used one condition so dont take that risk. Where are you located ?

I hear you but if these transmission are as robust as they are supposed to be, there is a good chance a used one should be fine.

The 722.6 is robust but the newest one you'll find for an E55 is now 16 years old.

Does age matter much? I know there are seals but a bad seal is probably not the cause of his issue here...

Each to their own. I wouldn't be willing to risk it. Going into limp home mode in the middle of nowhere isn't the best (personal experience).

I'm located in Phoenix, I found a shop that would rebuild the trans and replace the rear main seal for $3500. I'm not sure if that the going rate now for a rebuild. I plan to keep the car for a long time.

That's about the going rate for a rebuild. It should have a good warranty for that price as well. Make sure they replace the rear main plate and the seal, the sealant for the plate leaks, not the seal itself.

The first and most critical service on your transmission was due at 40k. Not sure if you owned the car then. I'm at 158k miles and my car is modded. Trans service was done every 40k with a full flush around 110k, always OEM fluid. A friend's '06 E55 trans went out around 130k. It didn't have any verifiable service history.

The shop I plan to go to is ATRA certified, idk if that makes any difference. The first transmission service was at 67k, second was at 97k, now the 3rd one was at 113k because I was checking if changing the conductor plate would fix it.

I did 3 times Transmission service for the last 12 years. Service about every 25k miles. Then when it started to fail, I changed the conductor plate if could fix the problem and it lasted 4 more months then until the car was not drivable. It just going to limp mod. I was lucky both times was near my house local drive. I regret changed a used one for $2500 that was a waste of money.
Cost me $4800 to rebuild tranny, torque convertor and changed radiator. So last year I spent total $7300 for my tranny !

Again, I hear you. And if you can source a good reman, or find a good shop who can do it, that's good. But transmission shops are huge gambles themselves (most of them suck).

I'd do the flex disk too.
