Any AMG enthusiast who appreciates the AMG engineering does not need to see the badging on the car----They already know!!
Any person who can be fooled by a poser can't truly appreciate what AMG's are about anyway.
& in closing-anyone posing as an AMG owner only lends credence to who they are as "CAR OWNERS ONLY"--Let's not get caught up on us thinking we know them as people.
Just my $.02

For those fortunate enough to be able to afford a REAL E55. Congrats. Be happy and enjoy. Don't be a "hater"...why worry about what others are driving when you're driving one of the best?
Lots of people are "posers" (in one form or another). Personally I feel if you have ANYTHING on your car that is not OEM....you're a poser. But if you like your mods, who cares what others think.

It's not like you are laughing at someone with a handicap or something! Some people have no sense of humor and those that called the person pointing out the poser a poser is even more ridiculous to me! How can one be a poser or anything bad for making a statement for entertainment purpose or a conversation about a person that lies about his cars attributes. If it's fake it's fake and has nothing to do with who can afford what or being snobbish! Society makes fun of guys with toupees all the time.
Since I can't afford a Ferrari I should not laugh at the guy with the Ferrerri body kit over top the VW Beetle chassis? Yeah Right! I would bust a gut!

What I find pathetic is someone who goes on an internet forum and posts it, just to get some kind of response for self affirmation. And to title it "Columbia SC Poser....Mind Boggling", what part is mind boggling?

It does not annoy me a bit to see someone rebadge their car. I couldn't care less. I don't judge people by the car they drive. Many times I drive my sons Mazda Protege. Am I somehow a different person when driving the Mazda than I am when driving the E55. I did not buy my E55 to try and impress anyone, I bought it because I like it. Those of you who bought the E55 thinking that you were going to impress people chose the wrong car. 99% of people have no clue what the E55 is and don't know that it is any different from an E320.

So a rolled up sock in your trousers, a hairpiece, lifts in your shoes, a fake "Rolex" on your wrist, or AMG emblems on your non-AMG M-B are only offensive to those that really care about your life and how you live it.
-ETA: I bought my '01 E55 way after the W211s were out. I bought it so I could drive at a more "lively" pace without the attention that my Z06 had started to attract. On the day I got it, the first friend that saw it said: "Well I'm not too impressed with your car." My mission was accomplished. BTW, this woman just bought an '05 CLK 320 and came over to show it to us. I casually asked her why she didn't get the CLK 55, or at a minimum, the CLK 500. She was not amused. :v

These Rebadgers obviously feel very insecure with themselves. Pretending to be something else is a mental disorder. Self-Aggrandizement:
1 : to make great or greater : INCREASE, ENLARGE
2 : to make appear great or greater : praise highly
3 : to enhance the power, wealth, position, or reputation of <exploited the situation to aggrandize himself>
It also shows the person is envious. Trying to impress or fit into a crowd that they normally can not get into. Overt Lying is a mental disorder. Feeling inadequate and not belonging is a mental disorder. Rebadging shows personal and mental insecurity as well financial insecurity.
Yes, it is lame to rebadge your $40k E-Class V6 with 221HP into a $80k E-Class with 469HP.
Also, those with mental disorders don't realized they are mental for they can not diagnose nor treat themselves and see their actions as ok or normal.

I was more "annoyed" by the fact it was filthy (I think it was a white car). I give more props to a tricked out Honda or Hyundia because it is obvious they love their car and put the time, money, and effort to make it as good as it can be IN THEIR EYES.

Several years ago a lady drove up with what was obviously a 380SE, but badged 560SEL. I wrote a note that I put on the windshield congratulating her on changing her front end, her side panel rockers, redoing the interior, and several other things that were distincly diffferent from the 560SEL and the 380SE. Never saw the car again. Made me feel better since I did spend the money on the newer car.

Sounds like some of us have alot of growing up to do. One day wisdom will take over "hopefully" and you "poser haters" will realize how funny you are and laugh at yourself or wonder why your ever wasted your time on it. I think "poser haters" are people who think their ****z don't stink. This character usually guages up everything including homes, clothes, women, cars and chuckle when someone else doesn't live up to "their" expectations. Also they usually compete with everyone in their realm for admiration family, friends it doesn't matter. Their ages usually range from as young as 18 and go to 40 in severe examples. Case and point is it what you drive that truly makes you? The guy who was driving that car in the first place, did you know for sure that was his car or his son, brother etc? And if he had a e55 at home would you have known? lol I sound like Dr. Phil!!!lol peace

Also the opposite of being a 'hater' is to be a 'lover' and why would anyone be a lover of re-badged, posers, pretenders or fake cars?

I proudly drive my E320 and don't at all feel inadequate when I see either the E500 or E55, just like I don't really want/need an S Class (would absolutely love a CL but that doesn't seem probable given my desire to retire at a decent age!) - I think they're all great cars, but for my money the E320 was awesome enough.
I do think that rebadging says something about the person, and it's somehow not a good thing - can't exactly put my finger on it, but if one of my friends did it, I'd have to ask why and wonder just a little bit about their sense of self-worth or sincerity...just a gut feeling...just doesn't seem right.
