Steering wheel

Yes they are interchangeable, almost all Mercedes steering wheels are interchangeable, if you go newer, the updated buttons won't work. Some people have 2018 AMG steering wheels.

As I know all Mercedes steering wheels are interchangeable. I hope I'm not mistaken. I recently bought myself a brand new amg steering wheel. I got a leather one. The cool thing is that these steering wheels are perfectly adapted to the shape of each person's hands.

got picture of the new one? How much did it cost. I recently upgraded mine and thinking of changing it again, lol.

This is a 2020 wheel on a 2003 55. These controls are working including the lighting... But only the same functions as OEM.
There are some off-shelf solutions but this job here is a custom version.

This is my unusual setup. A 213 wheel with a custom steering wheel adapter that lets my PC system read all the buttons on the wheel,
but stock mapping works fine (Right Touchpad switches cluster pages and menus, and volume + Tel buttons work as normal).
The shift paddles also work, since my PC is capturing those signals and relaying them to the powertrain CAN network (The video below documents how I did this).
I am using a dual stage airbag from a sprinter, and the SRS system on the 211 does not throw any error with that installed.
I actually did a video documenting the install of this, including the CNC machining and 3D printing that had to be done to the wheel to make it fit, since the 211 column is not compatible with this wheel at all.
Maybe one day I will try and put the 223 wheel on this car, but the issue with that wheel is that it alone sends more data over CAN than the entire 211 sends over CAN, so trying to simplify its data will be really hard to do.

as for the play in the clockspring. there is a spring loaded piece on there that isnt allowing it to sit flush. this really isnt an issue when everthing is bolted in. but if it is you can simply remove the spring and install the wheel. it wont effect anything negatively
