My new E55
I picked it up on Friday in Denver, and had an absolute blast driving home to Phoenix. Here are a few pics I took along the way........

Thank you, and I did. I spoke with my service advisor before I left. He told me "break in periods" are not what they are cracked up to be. He told me to drive it as I normally would from the git go, and I did with much pleasure. He said the only way to harm this engine is to run it without oil. One of the best weekends of all time!!

Not sure, had the windows tinted yesterday, and chrome AMG (same style) rims going on next week. I guess when I get used to the power, I may do a RennTech Stage 1 or 2. For now, I am extremely happy with the car. I think it is the best car I have owned to date!

Nice Pics...Your car was broken in during the first 100 miles so it is time to romp on it.

Thanks, Norb, he told me that was to keep folks who may not know too much of shifting and rpms from over-revving the engine to its limits. I have not reached its limits even yet. A few 1-2-3rd gears from a dig, but shifiting around 5800-6k with the tip. These engines are very tough. Still dont know the max shift points. Seems as though it gets 10-20 mph more out of each gear than my 2000 ML55 was capable of. Over 60 in second, and over 110 in 3rd, not sure where 4th goes into 5th though. Need to find a test track to have some fun.

Norb,
Did you "break in" your lawn mower, weed wacker, riding tractor, blender, hair dryer, ceiling fan or pool pump. I have been told by many mechanics that "break in" occurs in a matter of minutes regardless of distance driven. If Mercedes had their way the break in period would be 20,000 miles.

Do you think that MB put the break in procedure there just to **** us off? I doubt it. And would you trust a grease monkey or the engineers who actually designed your car?
But hey its your car do as you please, just don't post your views as gospel.

If you take ANY of this board as "gospel" it is time for pennance. Get a life, it is only a car and probably the worst investment any of us will ever make.
